Jedi-in-Exile anyone? Do we have a new acronym? JIE? (j-eye?)
Nobody knows how many Jedi escaped. Anyone who was stuck somewhere and didn't get the message to return to Courosant before Obi-Wan and Yoda changed it could be anywhere.
It's a perfectly reasonable plot complication. If Jedi were all over the galaxy fighting the war then there's no way to account for them all.
Obviously we have material here for a TV show or a cartoon or two.
And even more dramatically, the fan-fiction SW galaxy will have NOTHING BUT JIE in it for the next few months at least.

Yeah....
According to Obi, he said that Vader hunted and killed the remaining jedi.
but how about them clones. What happens to them? I believe they aren't in Ep IV.
nevertheless, it was a great movie. I sure hope there is an extended version for the dvd.

Considering the majority, if not all, of the Jedi fighting in the war had a TON of clones with them it really isn't that hard believing that all but a handful were wiped out by Order 66. The stragglers were then hunted down by Vader like Obi-Wan said in ANH. Loose end? Nope.

I hope there's an extended edition DVD, too because there quite a few scenes cut out. Where was Mon Mothma and the other other senators starting the Rebellion? My EP III Visual Dictionary has pages devoted to these characters, but they weren't in the movie.

Given how much STUFF is in this film, I kind of see why some scenes were cut out for the theaters. I wonder if Lucas is going to treat this one more like The Lord of The Rings DVD releases? The complete LOTR films were just too long for commercial theatrical release, but Peter Jackson put everything he wanted in the DVD no matter how long it made the epic. Would Lucas do the same thing for the DVD of ROTS? Maybe. Maybe not.

I would love to see a "Director Cut" of all the films. I would be great to have 3 1/2 to 4 hours of each

And the stormtroopers in ANH all SOUND alike, too. I heard much speculation about whether they were clones or not when ANH first came out, but Lucas never gave a definite answer about it.

I think its assumed pretty much across the board that the Stormtroopers are clones, and I agree.
But then why was there one with Luke's size armour? "arent you a bit short for a stormtrooper?"
As for the Jedi, remember that most of them were killed during the battle of geonosis, and the rest were unorganised and had nowhere to really go, so wouldnt have been that hard for a couple of sith with a near endless army of clones to track down. Plus if they were out fighting the war with the clone troopers, "Order 66" would have taken out quite a few of them, probably up to 80%
But then again, in the books following ROTJ, Luke goes on a search for lost Jedi, and apparently finds quite a few (I've only read one book, but in that one he finds a Jedi, and not a new one either but a veteran)
So I guess there are surviving Jedi after ROTS, and they are as good at hiding as Yoda and Obi Wan

Stormtroopers aren't clones - they're trained at the Imperial Academy. Once the Jedi had received the Clones that Saifo Dias (I probably butchered the spelling on that) ordered, there were no more. The Imperials, sometime between Ep III & IV, set up an Imperial Academy that trained Stormtroopers. Per the EU, Han Solo actually went there & planned to become a T.I.E. Pilot at one time, until he was kicked out for blowing up the planet's moon. Personally, since George oversees the Continuity Police when they write the EU novels, I'd have to go with this explanation. The fact that they all look alike is simply because of the armor - they're modeled after WWII German Stormtroopers, who were chosen (initially) for the military based on a height/weight/hair & eye color to look alike so as to confuse the enemy.

Whats your source for all this information pargacarwis? I read In a novel that Han got kicked out of the Empire for freeing Chewbacca, which I guess could have happened at this Academy you speak of.
Did you get it from a book? If so which one, I'd like to read that... and where is the Academy, i.e. what system? I always figured that the Empire trained officers, and kept the clones as stormtroopers because they arent independent enough.

This was all alluded to in the Corellian Trilogy, or the Han Solo Trilogy - there were two differnet sets, and I'm thinking it was the original that had to do with Han being orphaned & raised on the pleasure cruise ship & basically mothered by a Wookiee (which they used to explain how he learned to understand the language). It never went into much detail, just kind of gave a quick run down on what exactly happened. Not sure if they had planned to write the stories themselves into a novel, or if the continuity police just couldn't agree on what details to put in or leave out, but they never really expanded on it. I recently loaned ALL of my novels to a friend (who wasn't aware of the EU - poor guy!), but I'll get with him & find out exactly which series it was.
And after watching ANH again, Luke actually says it himself, that he wants to transmit his application to the Academy. This part is pure speculation, but I'd assume that he meant the Imperial Academy (wow - how would THAT have turned out?).. Beru tells Owen that most of his friends have gone - and due to the fact that the Empire would train you for certain jobs (much like America's military), I'd think that Luke & his friends would have applied to the Academy to basically escape Tatooine. Again, just a theory, but (at least to me) it makes sense. And, which would be just a few years before, Han makes a statement that Imperial Navy is something to be respected, possibly out of fear, but for those in the Outer Rim who weren't directly affected by the Empire, they would probably have only seen rumors & Imperial propaganda that built the Empire into something good (remember - when Palpatine declares himself Emperor, there was so much applause it sounded like the Rolling Stone had just taken the stage). Also, the Clone Troopers were fairly accurate with their weapons, since they were creche-bred for the job. When's the last time you saw a Stormtrooper hit the broad side of a bantha?

Okay, found it - and I was incorrect. It's in The Hutt's Gambit - Han was kicked out for saving Chewie. He had wanted to blow up the moon, but one of his friends did it before he could. ""Yeah, I know I tossed away my career and my livin' that day on Coruscant when I stopped Commander Nyklas from shootin' you. I hate slavery, and watchin' Nyklas use a force whip ain't a particularly appetizing sight. I know Wookiees, you see. When I was growin' up, a Wookiee was my best friend. I knew you were gonna turn on Nyklas before you did it -- just like I knew Nyklas would go for his blaster. I couldn't just stand there and watch him blast you. But don't go tryin' to make me out as some kinda hero, Chewie. I don't need a partner, and I don't want a friend. My name says it all, pal. Solo." And the part about the moon is on page 48-49, and this basically sums it up: Solo dreams of the destruction of the Caridan Academy's mascot moon, which actually was accomplished in a failed prank executed by Mako Spince. Found all this on TFN in a section I've never been to (which I've bookmarked - looks pretty good) here: www.theforce.net/swtc/novels/

Yeah, that sounds more like the story I read. Its strange I can't remember what book it was in but I definitely remember a whole sub-story about Han shining his boots and making sure his uniform was correct, and I'm pretty sure the Chewie thing was in there.... arrgh it was a long time ago, but I remember it.
The only books I've read in SW are The Crystal Star, Shadows of the Empire, ROTJ (novelization) and TPM (novelization). Maybe its in Shadows.
I could have sworn that Luke was going to join the Rebel Academy... he was going to meet up with his friends there, and Biggs turned out to be a Rebel, but I can't verify any of this.
