I surprisingly really enjoyed this series. I didn't think I would. I really liked Book 3, except the ending

Very nice Eowyn, Leda! re: Simplicity Tudor pattern: I've been a member of the SCA for 30 years. If one cares about accuracy in costuming, none of the major pattern companies make anything accurate for the medieval or renaissance periods. Most of the offerings from them make me cringe, but then I hang out with costuming Laurels! However, if one keeps to the spirit of the SCA and wants "an attempt" at period garb, then they are fine. The SCA where I've lived has been much more focused on authenticity. The early period costuming Laurels here spin and weave the fabric for their garb! Most of my new costumes have been Steampunk. I recently made a Steampunk Professor McGonagall

I had heard that in the SCA many members try to re-create the art by weaving their own fabric and things like that. That's really hard core! But I agree, weaving, leather working, calligraphy, etc... those are crafts that shouldn't be forgotten.
I love the steampunk look!
Angel, I haven't seen any of the Hunger Games or read any books, but I've heard of that character. What does the costume look like?

I have a drop spindle, but am way out of practice, not very good at it. I keep wanting to do a proper saxon loom w/ donut weights, no time, and no place to put it either.

Pretty nice! I am working on gathering stuff for a "Half-Life" video game security guard - which I can also make as a "headcrab Zombie" if I want. I don't know why. Have no where to wear it for a while. Just one of those whims I guess

Most of my costumes are non-SW nowadays.. ^^; And 90% of my "costume wishlist" is also non-SW, instead being anime/video game/comic book related. Right now I've got several costumes that have been in "production stasis" for years due to one reason or another. The (short) list of in-progress and completed costumes is located here: www.cosplaylab.com/cosplayers/planned.asp?memberid=3728 Lol. Currently I've resurrected and resumed work on the patterns for my Naboo battlemaiden costume, pulled out the patterns to remake my Jedi costumes, and have Android 17 (95% complete) and teen Son Gokou (both from Dragonball Z) on pause. My dining room looks interesting with sewing supplies, fabrics, and costume parts strewn about. Lol.

I forgot to mention that I have 3 other non-SW costumes, which Leda reminded me about at NYCC this Saturday: My 1978 Battlestar Galactica Colonial Warrior uniform (tan) with the jacket and the boots which I wear with my Jedi costume (thank-you Schph for this suggestion). My 2 SCA garb outfits. My archer's jerkin ensemble which I wear the most to events that makes look like Robin Hood, and is appropriate because I am an archer. My second outfit is my court garb ensemble. I have a green cothardie with a tan lining, black velvet leggings, pointy shoes, and a satin blue houppelande which I wear thingyscomb style or around my neck with the loooong tail tucked into the back of my belt. I saw a few Links Saturday. One of them I approached and asked where he got his outfit from. Maybe when i win the Galactic Lottery and have millions of Galactic Creds I'll start on my Link cosplay again.

Kai, I love the Steampunk outfit!
I've been meaning to join the SCA, but I just don't have the time.
I have so many costume plans. I don't know if I'll ever get them all done.
