That is very reasonable ... one of the boot makes at the RenFaire, Catskills boots, after they measure you at the site and get you custom order, tells you, you can expect them in 6 - 10 months ... The average price on the boots .... $1200.
Designed from scratch 6 months seems like a quick turnaround ... What I showed my Carlos Diaz Obi-Wan boots to the 2 bookmakers on site Catskills boots, said the could make then for $1700 and would take about a year ... Olde Souls said $400 and 7 - 10 weeks. Both were impress with the quality of materials and price, $220 with shipping, yes I got in back in March. In fact Olde Souls, asked to "copy"my boots and see just what it would take to produce them ... The owner said he would contact me when he knew if they would offer them as a standard item for the 2009 RenFaire season. WOW...Inflation! Donovan made my Catskills boots (arguable long, long ago....) in about 6 weeks from measurements to delivery. At the time he said he'd never seen such over developed calves and actually talked me down from higher boots to calf high. He said the higher boots would slide down a bit due to my calf size and be uncomfortable. Still got them...though my wife never lets me wear' em.

Does anyone know if Carlos Diaz is up-to-date on shipping? I'd like to order some boots, but don't want to wait forever for them

Well I sent him an e-mail way back and it said his account was full. I really don't care about the less cost, it's not worth waiting and wondering.

I don't know. You can take the risk....but I wouldn't. If you want great boots go to Motor Cowboy.com and check him out. They are more money, but you will get them in the time frame he states and they last a lifetime. I have a pair. Make sure your measurements are accurate. Do not add even a millimeter. Snug (not tight) to your skin. He makes the allowments. His boots are spot on and they are comfortable. I have used him and there are some at the Legion and 501st that have used him and I have never heard anything bad about him. He is more expensive than Diaz but 100% more trust worthy...and remember, you get what you pay for.
Just went to the link you provided and the item is no longer avilable. I searched the leather boutique and it showed two purses. Looks like he isn't just boots.
I hope you like his boots if you decide to buy them.

I for one wouldn't recommend him. After nearly a year and two pairs made incorrectly & every excuse in the world about shipping, I have cut my losses and given up on him. Here's another vendor.... myworld.ebay.com/jdos_p/He has been very responsive to my inquires and his prices are great for custom boots.

Motor Cowboy is the same way. He answers your e-mails within a day. He is a nice guy and will work with you if you aren't happy.

Jim is pretty good he's currently researching if he can make my Strider Boots and the better half is going to get her Leia boots through him as well.

Well I finally got the boots I ordered from Carlos. Almost a year to the day of ordering. They look good, seem to be of good quality although haven't seen any actual use yet and the fit is a bit larger than expected but not bad at all and probably will be welcomed on cold winter mornings when very thick socks and a pair of toe warmers are in order.
But... I had to pay for the boots to be re-shipped b/c I had actually MOVED since the time of ordering so I'm out $25 for that. As I mentioned before I got my money back from Amex so really all I am out of pocket so far is that reshipping cost. I'm going to see how they wear and then send Carlos what I think they are worth given all the hassle I've had to go through.
All in all, I'll spend more money with someone more reliable in the future. I really do hope he gets his act together b/c his product certainly seems good but his customer service just stinks.
