It's like he says in The Long Kiss Goodnight:
"You can't kill me, mother-f***ers!!"
I too wouldn't be surprised if Master Windu were discovered to be still alive. Perhaps he sought out a place, as Yoda did, to hide himself in the Force.

You know, another thing I thought of...in Shadows of the Empire as Luke is waiting for the Falcon to pick them up atop Xizor's palace (which, as I say that in my head, sounds like a new casino), he contemplates their fate should they fail to be rescued. He remembers Yoda having trained him how to use the Force to slow a fall. It's entirely possible that a Jedi like Windu, many times more powerful than Luke was at that point, would have much greater control over such a thing.
As far as the Force Lightning goes, Luke took a fairly large dose of it before Vader chucked the Emperor into the oblivion, yet in all the book covers, he looks barely older than 30. So I don't know why Palpatine would have been disfigured but Luke wasn't.

Even if Mace did survive how could he have gotten off the planet without being discovered. Well Yoda and Obi Wan both managed it, and Yoda managed it when they were looking specifically for him. It doesnt seem to far fetched that Mace could have snuck away. why is it so hard to think that a master jedi could not have mind tricked a clone trooper. I mean Obi did it in anh. As for master Windu surviving I breing evidance marked exibit 7 Form VII: Juyo/ Vaapaad Dubbed the "Way of the Vornskr," Form VII was an incomplete form for millennia. It was further developed by Jedi Master Mace Windu, who could complete it with his, "Vaapaad" style. The most challenging and demanding of all forms, Form VII requires extreme, intense focus, high levels of skill, and mastery of other forms. Only two Jedi have ever mastered Form VII fully, Mace Windu and Depa Billaba. One other Jedi, Sora Bulq, mastered its physical aspects but was overwhelmed by the required mental discipline. Form VII, when fully mastered, results in extraordinary power. This form would have given master windu The focus and stamina requiered to not only survive the lightning but also retain the strangth and mental capasity to control his fall. any one who has studied a form of martial arts would confirm that the body is not the only thing that you train (the body doesnt matter if you "NO MIND") NO MIND is a form of focus that allows you to seperate your body from your mind so you feel no pain. I have control over all the pressure points in my body to the point that they dont even feel pain. so it is possible for a JEDI to with stand the lightning. I would say that with master Windu's level of smarts that when anakin betrayed him he thought "If I stay I will surly die". The fastest way out is the window. as for not returning in any of the other films maybe he went to a system not controlled by the empire like yoda.not to mention that palp was using lightining on windu's saber for a 40 second before anakin stepped in. so it is entirely posible that the potancy of power would have been low IE.. palp"I'm to Weak I can't hold it any longer" however palp takes his own lighining for 40 sec. and windu takes it for 17sec. which is half as long But luke took a total of 56 sec. of lightining and livedEither way Windu is the bomb!! hands down. Master Windu lives I tell You!!!!
