I'm growing a Padawan braid:D. But my hair doesn't grow fast at all:(. As soon as I have one, I think I'll put a green and & a yellow band on it.

It'll propebly take about 3 years to grow:(. I wish my hair would grow faster. I don't think I'll mind the wierd looks much, I already do cuz of my short hair;D.

Do you know how you can hide it once it grows long?

Try this:
I went to a Catholic High School and guys weren't allowed to have their hair longer than collar legnth. One guy fooled all the teachers by tucking his hair down the back of his shirt, and always had the collar tight to the back of his neck. On graduation day he showed us his hair which had grown down to the middle of his back, and nobody knew it!! You could also hide it behind your ear, or style it into your 'do.

If you have really short hair, it might be tricky, but maybe you could use a bobby pin to pin it into the rest of your hair so it kind of mixes with the hair on the back of your head? You might just be able to tuck it behind your ear until it gets too long and starts to show, at which point you could get creative. Maybe braid it and use a cute barrette to sweep your hair on one side? See, this is why I'm growing all of my hair long now, LOL.

Oh yeah, my question. If the yellow band (for Padawans) goes at the top of the braid and the red band (after reaching age 16) goes at the bottom of the braid, is there a specific location where other bands should go? I notice that in the pic of Anakin his blue band is kinda one-third-to-one-half of the way down his braid. But I don't see either a yellow or red band on his braid. Why, do you suppose, is that? What if you have more than one extra band? Put them together? Is this question just way too technical (read:geeky), or what? ;D

I don't know if this will work for you, but when I drink and eat alot of fruits and vegetables my hair grows faster. I like tropical and citrus fruits. My hair grows around 3/4 of an inch a month. Also brushing it a lot with stimulate the hair follicles to grow. Keeping it clean is essential to keep the follicles clear. Lots of sleep. The body only regenerates while at rest; and hair growth is part of regeneration. A stressful life will halt hair growth and make what is there, fall out.

Are you just trying to get me to eat my vegetables? *L* Well, since my hair is really short, (see my picture on the TJA homepage, and that was needing a haircut!) I think I'll try the winding it up behind my ear aproach:D. My mom thinks I'll quit this idea in about a month or so. Rong!!;D

Ephanie, The first band goes about the 2/3rds part you'd mentioned. On mine it's a red band, then yellow, Red ties it off.
The 2nd right below that one, touching it.
The 3rd band at the bottom of the braid.(Can use it to tie it).
I should redo mine and taker a pic of it so you can see wear my band placement is.

When your hair gets about 3 inches long in the area you want the braid in, you could always go to a stylist that does extensions. They can braid one into your hair. They look like your own hair. They shouldn't be that expensive and you could be enjoying it as your own hair grows out. I would rather my son come to me wanting a Jedi extension, versus a tatoo or piercing........My son has been growing his hair for ten years. He has beautiful dark thick hair almost to his waist....perfect for a padawan braid, but I can't get him to wear one...lol, but I am getting him into Jedi costuming, so it is only a matter of time.... ;D

Don't worry, I eat my vegetables;D. I don't think I'll get an extension, cause I'm on a very low budget:(.
