You would be surprised how little one braid will cost. You can go to a beauty supply store and find single braids for about $2.00-$5.00 and a stylist will probably charge around $5.00 to put it in. If she thinks you're cute..she might do it for free and you can tip her a couple of bucks. The beauty supply stores also sell the braids that have little clips on them that you can just snap on to your hair. Where there is a will....there is always a way.

Emerita, The extension sounds great. How much does one go for? And how is it secured to myhair? Can they place one into fine hair without seriously wrecking it up?
Can it be unbraided , washed and rebraided as needed?
The beauty shop near me has NO clue how to put them into hair and I wouldn't let Grace do it anyway.

The manmade ones run about $2.00 a braid.. The human hair ones are $ 6.00 a braid in my town. Best thing to do is call a salon that does black people's hair. They usually do more than white stylists. They glue a section of braid to a section of your own hair. Then they braid it back together and it really looks like your own. The glue usually lasts around three months and you can wash it, but you really wouldn't need to take the braid apart. It will be rinsed clean as you wash your own hair. if you just want a quickie, you can go to a costume shop and buy spirit gum. You can glue the braid directly to a section of hair. When you are done with your outing, you can remove the braid with a little baby oil to the glued section. I have never left one in to see how long it lasts though. I have slept with it in my hair, but I always remove them right away. The spirit gum does take a little bit to dry and you have to be careful not to get it everywhere. It is really sticky.

Thanks Emerita. I think I'll do that. I don't mind an extension in for 3 months.

I just got a hair cut, the person who cut my hair probebley thought I was crazy. I Know my mom thinks I'm wierd. My dad and my brother haven't noticed that I'm growing it yet:D. It's just at the point ware it sticks out to the side looking silly, but I don't care.

That in-between stage is awkward, but hang in there. It will grow soon enough. Trust me, I've had a few hair disasters.

Because they are students, not professionals, and they can really screw up your hair.

Ahh, a Very good reason. Sort of like, don't go to a Dental Hygiene school to get your teeth cleaned.
