and Fabrics-store.com (what used to be called Linenweb) www.fabrics-store.com/has medium weight linen (5.3 oz) in more colors....click on the "new colors in 100% Medium Weight ...." link in the middle of the main page www.fabrics-store.com/first.php?goto=showarticles&menu=f&article=1&wp=2 Be sure to notice the tiny numbers on the right, above the fabric square, indicating more pages of fabrics! There are several shades of cream and brown. Not all are the same price, for some reason, but they are between $6-7, which is cheaper than fabrics.com

Ooooh, that's a really good price. Does silk chiffon have any stretch to it? I don't recall that chiffon has much.

It should be here soon, I'll let you know. I always cut my undertunic long, tight sleeves on the bias so there is a little stretch.

Has anybody got a source for Natural Cotton Hopsacking? I saw a pair of trousers the other day, and the fabric was amazing! Pretty thick, very nubby, natural coloured and very very soft! I've never seen it in the city, but I'll bet it's available in either the mid west or south.

I've never heard of hopsacking before. I did a little internet searching, but didn't see much more than definitions about what it was. Sounds like it would work great for Jedi costumes.
Kai, how did the silk chiffon work out?

I've heard of hopsacking, just haven't seen any recently.
The silk chiffon is very sheer. It does have a little stretch, especially on the bias. If all that shows is the collar and cuffs, it might be alright. But it is nearly see-through.

That's what I thought when I saw the pants, that it would be a great Jedi fabric, the hunt is on.

Interesting about the chiffon. Does it have much of a sheen to it? That's the one problem I have with looking for silk for an undertunic. I prefer the fabric have no shine or gloss to it at all.

No, it doesn't have a sheen at all. I've decided to return it as it is just too see-through for clothes!

That's a shame. See-though is bad for clothes, though usually OK for lining, but still not preferable.

Ani Chay, Try www.dharmatrading.com Go to their fabric>>>SIlk>>> then to Silk Habotai select the 6 or 8mm. Otherwise known as "China SIlk". Nova highly recommends a china silk for lining, this is your animal. Here's a link to the fabric www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/silk/habotai.html It'll be good for a lining and wearing as an under tunic. It's MUCH more affordable a yard than Jo-Ann's, Handcook's or Michel's.

I'd recommend washing the wool/nylon blend fabric twice before cutting, just to be sure it's shrunk, but it looks just fine after washing. I put mine in the dryer as well, on a lower setting, but it produces a lot of lint.
