Inspired by the recent article in the Star Wars Insider, issue #62, I wonder.....
Which lightsaber combat form would you practice? If you're unfamiliar with the 7 forms of lightsaber combat, get yourself to a newstand, and buy Insider #62!
And when posting your response, understand this...you have to be quite the Master to practice form VII.

I'd learn all of the forms. When a situation called for a certain form,it'd be used. This way I'd never be caught unaware.

[shadow=blue,left,300] Hmmm...I like the Forms 2 and 5.
I think if I had to pick one over the other, it would probably be 5.
But, I rather have both! ;D

[glow=Purple,2,300]I am very partial to three. I also like five. As in tradition I would study very hard all the styles and eventually with hard work understanding patience, skill and time. I would definitly be a VII. But now I will work three. Look how old Yoda is and he is seven. Tell yah something! LOL[/glow]

Well, all of the Jedi spend a year or two studying each form.
Here's a rough list of the styles of the various Jedi and Sith in the series.
Form 1: No practicioners. This is the ancient style that evolved from blade technique.
Form 2: Evolved from Form 1 as a lightsaber to lightsaber technique. This form is practiced by Count Dooku.
Form 3: A defensive style, developed from the ability of the lightsaber to deflect blaster bolts. Form 3 masters are nearly invincible, but may not be able to overcome an opponenet decisively. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a Form 3 master. He only submitted to Darth Vader in their duel on the Death Star so that Luke might escape.
Form 4: A more acrobatic style, where one move flows into the next. A use of the force in assistance of the movements is part of the form. This style can also incorporate 2 lightsabers being used at the same time. This is the form practiced by Qui-Gon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the time of the Phantom Menace. Yoda, whose skills are demonstrated in Attack Of the Clones, is a form 4 Master.
Form 5: A more powerful style, geared towards combat, and dominating an opponent. The blaster deflection technique is geared towards dfelecting a laser blast back at the one who fired it. Form 5 practioners include Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker.
Form 6: An amalgam of the various styles. No individual practicioners are known, but all Form 6 practicing Jedi who fought in the Battle of Geonosis died there.
Form 7: An advanced style, that requires the mastery of multiple other forms. It is an intensely physical style, using many force assisted leaps and other moves. The only known practioners are Mace Windu, and Darth Maul, who practiced a Sith form of Form 7.
A form for myself? Form 4 would be my choice. I would then attempt to master Form 5 as well.

I would love to say 7....but being a "realist"...form 5 would be more to what I would be capable of!
Good to see ya again Nick...where ya been?

[glow=blue,2,300]Right now? 5. It's the closest to what I do when I have a piece of bamboo in my hand. I'd also be starting form 2 right now, but being a beginner doesn't really count. As for the future, I'd learn 4, 3, and 7, in that order. (If I lived long enough to get that far...)[/glow]

I think 4, 3 & 2 are the ones that strike me as the ones that I would most like to master, 4 & 3 for practicality and 2 for an element of combat surprise, it's ancient, but no longer a style that is common, making it harder to combat to those not used to that style, also, it's always nice to keep old traditions alive.

I would start off with form 3 and move into form 4. Ultimately I want to learn form 7. The concentration it requires comes very close to the concentration needed to access the Dark Side.
