;D UPDATE: Thank you to all of you who have prayed & supported me during all of this, it's much appreciated ***bows***.
Things are going along great with both shoulders now. My left is finally getting much stronger & the right is zooming along & I kind of have to hold it back from doing too much too soon.
My left can now handle the Yoda f/x without a prob--twirling at the side is a bit awkard but I'm getting there slowly.
I've just been able to recently pick up my ;D ROTJ lightsaber again after, let's see, I think it's been a year. This is only with my left hand & starting to practice some twirling with it very slowly.
I'm starting to see a bigger light at the end of the therapy tunnel for both shoulders. The only pain I have right now is muscle pain because they are still learning to stretch out, up & back but they stretching. ;D
I've also started weight regimine to help me lose some weight that accumulated during this past year---I'm way over where I should be but the numbers are starting to come down----finally.
I'm thinking by June I will be more then ready to be able to put my Jedi garb on & even be able to put on my robe & swing a lightsaber again---it might only be the Yoda one but it's a start.

Sounds good! All that therapy pays off. It seems like after a certain age, everyone has to watch their weight no matter what.

so true on the wgt. I tend to gain it when I'm stressed-- :-[not good & I don't attempt to gain. update: ;D right shoulder can now reach my Yoda f/x so I think I can now start using it very slowly. My therapist has me doing arm lifts with 5# on the left & 3# on the right. My right is moving along much faster then my left ever did. The right still needs to build on it's range of motion but it's slowly getting there. My left can now handle my ROTJ f/x ;D---finally.

I think I'm really close to actually not having to put updates on here anymore. I see a much brighter light at the end of the therapy tunnel ;D.
To all those who have prayed, sent postive messages & supported me during my Jedi trials with my shoulder surgeries I thank you very much, it's helped me a great deal to make myself persist in doing my therapy each day.
left shoulder still has pain but it can stretch really well & can now hold my ROTJ f/x lightsaber--so I am attempting to learn to twirl very slowly with it---that is going to takes lots of practice.
right shoulder has very little to no pain but it still needs to stretch as far as the left can go but it now can the Yoda f/x lightsaber--I haven't started twirling practice with it yet--just simply learning to hold it.
When the weather changes I do feel pains but mostly in the left.
I so very close being a full Jedi again ;D---I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to act or react once I get my full costume on again---I still have to wait till June 08 to do that for the 1st time.

Congrats for all your hard work and perserverance, Jan-Qui. Be mindful now of your posture and support as you get back in the swing (!) of things in the lightsaber world. Take most of the motion in your large muscles to keep the strain off your newly-repaired shoulders.
What is going to be your first costumed event?

Thank you all for your support. It's much appreciated. Welllllllllll I can say that my left shoulder is just about done with therapy. YIPEE!!!!!!!!! I can raise my left arm straight up over my head--before surgery I could barely raise it to my shoulder. My right shoulder is doing much better but has to stretch a lot farther so it can reach my left shoulder---so that needs more time. According to the doctor today I can now drive my car---finally after 7 months . I feel like I can actually do it now. I will also be able to start using my ROTJ f/x lightsaber---I just need to locate some space to practice twirling. Let's see what will be my 1st costuming event? Adventure Con, hopefully.

;D Thank you all. I've started back to :)driving (I'm glad of it & not glad of it) I'm like Obi-Wan Kenobi---he disliked flying but was a superb pilot & of course my Aunt has figured out that she needs something frequently. I don't go out daily but usually plan a day or 2---therapy days seem to be the best. My shoulders seem to be handling turning the steering wheel & opening & closing the car doors so that is a plus. So far as mobility is concerned--I definitely have much more of it & whatever pains I do feel are simply tight muscles. All these are supposed to improve in time----I hope . So far as lightsabers go---I need to find somebody to help me out with them. Since I'm in process of doing my bathroom over again--space is a bit quirked up & sparse here at home. I'm not brave enough to practice outside ---I don't want to break my f/x's by dropping them on the concrete or ground. I also would prefer not letting my neighbors see me (for quite awhile)---I'm waaaaaay to poor a lightsaber handler at this time to be seen by anybody. I don't know any lightsaber moves excep the 8's. Hopefully at Adcon I'll get some practice so I can at least work on some moves beyond the 8's. You could say I've healed but now I've got to learn some saber skills.

All is going good but I've had a few setbacks recently. I'm in remodeling mode of bathrooms at home so my exercise routine has gotten "blown out the window" by quite a bit. Too much dust flying around in the area where I was doing the exercises. I just got home from San Diego so now I've got to figure out how I can re organize myself & my exercise program to fit how things are for the next several weeks.
Both shoulders are doing ok---I've been keeping them busy in other forms of exercise---such as household work.
Lightsaber twirling is on hold till I can find a space for me to practice again.

I also thought I'd be able to get soft contact lenses to wear with my costume but that is now a dead issue. I went the 1st time & the left lense tore in the doctors office while I was learning to put them on---so had to reorder them Last Monday I went the 2nd time & after learning to put the both in the right lense tore at the drs office---so I decided the Force is not with me on this--- me & contacts don't seem to want to get together . In fall I'm going to get new glasses instead. Right now I just simply do not wear my glasses when I'm in costume or for pictures. I think the force is telling me to do it that way. Also it will be cheaper.

Yes & thank you all. I can now lift any of my f/x lightsabers ;D. Twirling is another matter. Nova I'm hoping I can bring a f/x lightsaber to the drum room & play with it to the beat a bit. I couldn't have done it at all last year. BTW Nova, how is your foot---sounded like you are having a walking prob? , I hope it's not too serious. I'm also hoping somebody in TJA will be willing to show me some lightsaber moves that I can work with. Thanks Ani ;D. I can now lift my left arm over my head- & reach to my right shoulder----1st time in a looooooooooooooooonnnnnnng time. I still have pains in my shoulders but it's muscle pain not arthritic pain & neither shoulder jams up at all. I'm still taking Ibeprophin twice a day--morning & night. I know Dr. Semba figures it'll be 12-18 months for my right shoulder to get where it belongs. It's only at almost 5 months. I'm assuming it's going to be another maybe 12 months before my left reaches full strength. It's almost at 9 months. lots & lots & lots & lots of therapy . How is your foot also--getting any better.

Hey Jan-Qui, a while back we had a lightsaber class, and I think you might be able to do some of the moves that we learned. I'll make a copy for you and bring it to D*C. If your wrists are pretty strong, there is an opening/closing pattern that looks cool, and doesn't involve lifting the saber over your head at all, and you could do some of the rest of it, too. We'll skip the twirling above your head for now LOL.
