I have an appt on Jan 15 to see the new surgeon & will hopefully set up a surgery date to get the right shoulder done. I just hope the force will be with me & the surgeon will agree to do it.

I hope the appointment went well. Whenever you get your shoulder done, just make sure you get the right surgeon. Getting it done right is far, far more important than getting it done soon.

Thanks to all for your support & prayers. Yes Ani, I agree having the right surgeon to do the job is all important. The surgeon who I have to do the left is comprable to the surgeon I had, so that's a relief. Update left shoulder: ;D Doing very well, my range of motion is really great. It gets stiff in the morning but for me at my age that's not a surprise, it loosens up as the day goes on & as I use it. I'm doing the weights with it now to build up strength, which is where my weakness is. I'm making it work a lot more & the frozen muscles that haven't had to do much for the last 10 yrs are re learning what they're supposed to do. It's going slow but yet improving daily. I will have about 1 more month of therapy, unless the doctor decides to continue it beyond that. I've already done at least 30 therapy sessions. I can also say that my metal lightsaber hilt feels very light weight now ;D. Update right shoulder: jamming almost daily & since I've been taking motrin for the left I don't feel that much pain with it but when I let got of the motrin I most definitely know it's degrading . I now can say I will be having Right shoulder reconstructive surgery on Feb 8--unless something drastically happens to change it. At least this will give me 3 months of therapy. I will, of course have to do shoulder therapy for all of the summer & most likely into the fall to really get the shoulders moving well. But at least they won't be jamming on me. I have no major travel plans made for 08 but I have a few tentative ones I'm simply hoping I'll be able to do. I have a retirement, bridal shower & wedding that's in the works for May/June just don't know the dates yet. Quicher & I haven't decided if we're going to visit her daughter in Hawaii either. So we'll just wait & see. Some of the events I'd like to make but they are all BIG ? MARK are: Conooga Con, Adventure Con, Comic Con & Dragon Con plus a few things in the Midwest in my area. Maybe the Star Wars Exhibit in Minnissota---all are very very BIG ? marks. Once my shoulders are feeling really good then there will be have Jedi will travel again. It's just getting to that point that seems to take forever. The therapy path seems very long & IS VERY HARD. I know my therapists are very please with my progress. Between my therapists & everyone who has sent me postive boosts to get me through this has helped me a lot. I just hope I can keep it up. MTFBWY

Thanks all. ;D That helps in sooooooo many ways. I had my MRI done on my right shoulder. Quicher's & her sister looked at the films (they have exstensive medical background) & agreed that the right shoulder is very bad--they noticed a small break in one part of the bone & shoulder reconstruction is a must. At least I know what I've been feeling :'(about for the last 10 yrs. I almost wish I could have done this 5 yrs ago or sooner. Sometimes I think why in the Star Wars universe do I want to put myself through this----again----& it all comes down to wanting NO PAIN or at least a whole lot less then I've been going through & being actually able to swing a lightsaber----the correct way, that & getting back to traveling again Since I've been on 3 to 4 motrin at a time the pain is, of course, dulled considerably but not gone. So Saturday I actually went with out motrin for a whole day---or at least a good chunk of it & I kind of paid the price for it--- :oBIG OUCH escpecially on the right side. So now I'm back at attempting to be more regular with the motrin till my "lucky" surgery day when I most likely will be put back on vicadin here goes the "loopy" Jedi again. I just wish it would work better. I had to go out & buy myself a lift chair so that I can be somewhat comfortable either with sitting or sleeping(I slept in my recliner A LOT during my left shoulder recovery)---I figured this time I'm NOT going to be able to reach the handle on the recliner so a power chair was needed to help me out & the left can help my right out for a change. Am I nervous?----YES. I'm not exactly sure how this is all going to turn out (what with a new surgeon) but in the end both shoulders will be completely repaired. I will be in therapy again for at least 3 months & then some officially. I will be doing at home (or when I travel) therapy for the rest of 08 to strengthen my very weak muscles that haven't worked for a loooooooooooooooooooooong long time. I also hope before C5 that somebody will help me with LEARNING how to do some lightsaber moves---beyond just the 8's. I do figure by Celebration 5 I should in be in fantastic shape, especially with my arms. The rest of me needs to work on other areas for the rest of 08 to. ;DOne real good thing with my left hand is I'm now able to twirl my Yoda f/x a little bit--need to practice much. I can also hold my ROTJ f/x lightsaber--1st time in---I can't quite remember when I handled it the last time---not attempting twirling just yet--just attempting to get the feel of it 1st. So all things said & done my life revolves around therapy most of the time & I will have 2 versions going on at the same time---advanced for the left & very basic for the right---it'll be nice when they finally get matched up & I can do them equally. For this Jedi Knight this has REALLY been testing my patience, endurance, attitude, moods, priorities, consistancy & determination. ;DI'm really looking forward to being back into costume in full canon one of these days & actually being able to wear my Jedi robe again. I just wish it could be today.

Update: Went to get presurge tests done today. The time on Feb 8 has been set. Just have to see the doctor before I go in.
I know I'll be off the pc for awhile after the right shoulder is done--have no idea for how long. I got back on pretty quickly with the left.

Today is Saturday Feb 2, Ground Hog Day---with the :-[snow outside who knows what is going to happen---I know I'm ready for spring . Now I have less then a week before the right shoulder gets done. I'm :)glad it's all set up to be done & also a :-/pprehensive as well. When I get it done I'll have 2 good shoulders ;D. Of course I'll also have the vicadin to help assist me along. Then the real struggle begins doing 3-4 months of therapy with the shoulder & MAINTAINING doing therapy for the rest of 08 & possibly doing some exercises for who knows how long. I know I've found out rebuilding extremely weak muscles is a time consuming & painful job---I think some of my underarm muscles atrophied from lack of use over the last several years so they feel like new born babies arms. I have to keep in my mind that I want to be able to use my lightsabers---I hope, I hope, I hope.

Update: Saw surgeon yesterday & he verified what was on the MRI's. Surgery is all scheduled & green to go. He will do a total shoulder replacement or as they call it shoulder reconstruction surgery. I'll be off the computer for I'm not sure how long, depends on how I feel.

Update: Thanks to all who have sent their prayers & support my way for my right shoulder surgery. I had it done on on Feb 8. My right shoulder was completely replaced. :)All went very well. Now both of my shoulders are repaired . Thank the force. The long road of therapy begins again next week. I'm right handed so typing is possible. I'm only beginning now to get back on to the computer very slowly. I'm on vicadin but it doesn't seem to help as much as before but it at least dulls the pain. I just hope I can get back to my determination & persisitance at therapy. My left shoulder therapy has had to be minimized for the last couple of weeks. Please pray that I have the patience & endurance to handle the therapies for both shoulders. I will be doing that for at least 3 months & then onward till I have no idea when. I have to remind myself that I want to be able to get back into seeing everybody, traveling, Jedi uniform & handle my lightsabers again. MTFBWY
