hi guys;
i looked hard and long at MP's pouches. however i am rather hard on equipment and there is no way resin pouches are gonna hold up. i ordered mine from paul in san deigo. his are all leather and hold up excellently. if you need his email, Pm me and i will let you have it. also his prices are much more reasonable.

Any idea where to get some decent looking CHEAP pouches?

Paul's puches are incredible. yes they cost about$77 including shipping, but they'er functional LEATHER, and are GREAT> I have a set from him and want to order another set of brown.
It's well worth it, You don't want super cheap, cuz they'll appear cheap and won't last. Paul's WILL last.

$77! Wow! I think my entire costume cost about $150 so far -- and thants 2 pairs of boots, robe, tunic, belt, lightsaber parts, breather and communicator!

yeah, but if ya can't make 'em yourself like LonMark or Paul can, next best thing is find a dude that can make some killer pouches to put your Jedi equipment in.;-) ya know, I haven't a breather. AKKK Hummmm no idea even where to start either.
I've parts for my communicaitor but no micro dremel to drill holes for my atenne.

I didn't use a drill for my communicator. The antennae fit nicely in the little spaces next to where the razorblade fit onto the contraption. www.padawansguide.com/communicator.shtmlMine looks more like the bottom one and for the things glued on front, I used pieces of plastic that comes with my son's toys that are tied in by wire to the boxes. A lot have plastic thingys to keep the twisted wire from cutting through the box. Looks okay. The top knoby thing is a bookshelf shelf holder things that copmes with a lot of those do-it-yourself bookshelf sets.

Looks pretty good. :-) Seems each person's Comlink has it's own personality. Like Kai Rhann's, JediKai's and the two shown on the padawan's guide. NICE. Know what's weird? I have the nails, and the metel thingmabobs. One little thing on the Comlink's back looks like a soda can tab. LOL

Soda can tab. Hmmm.. never thought of that but it would probably work! I'll have to try that!

Personally, I make my own pouches. While resin pouches can very accurately simulate the pouches from the film, they are not functional. For some this may be acceptable. I, on the other hand, like to have pouches that I can put things in (car keys, id, wallet, business cards and cotact info, as well as gadgetry).
I'll be doing some new pouches soon, including a shoulder bag to hold larger items such as datapads, binoculars, and so on) and perhaps some custom cases for those items on their own. I did one for my comlink that works very nicely. I've posted pics of my belt before, but there is a pic on my homepage as well.
Being a leathercraftor, $77 for custom pouches (depending on number of pouches, size, and complexity) may or may not be steep. For simple pouches, say a set of 1 large and 2 small, I wouldn't expect to be charged more than $50. But, if the pouches were particularly nice (say, made from nice 2-3oz calfskin) the price could really sail.
As to cheap, ready made pouches, look for such things as knife cases (for lockblade folding knives such as a Buck model 112), ammo cases, and so forth. Army surpluss stores, sporting goods shops, and hunting shops should have these in abundance...

JediMom, It's weird. It actually looks like a soda can tab. it might not be what it reallly is though.
Kai Rhann, Your pouches rock, period. :-) They'er awesome. Amazing what can be found relitivly 'cheap' at stores or can be made if one has the supplies and skills. One of mine fits my Digi cam nicly but it's a wee bit snug. So I'm going to ask my pouch guy if he can make another just a tiny bit wider(1/8" maybe 1/4". I haven't any gadetry yet. However I've been eyeing those cell phone bodies I wanna make into a prop. :-) TOo bad I can't make a cell look like a comlink.:-D

Thanks, Mynn...
My stuff is almost always utilitarian...but I'd like to make some pouches and belt that would be much more asthetically pleasing. I like my equipment to work, and to be durable...

I just bought two cell phone cases at Dollar General for $5 each that hold my communicator and my breather quite nicely. They will do for now until I can invest in something much nicer. Even better, they even had the belt clip on them (not justa loor for a belt to go through, but an actual clip). They are black, but I am going to dye them brown (I hope)
