RSLA was my first saber it was nice. It was very very heavy, and did quite have the look I wanted, it was a very weathered/oilly metal finish. I sold it just before C3.
I decided to spend the money and got a random saber, to be honest I it took a long long time. But it is proably my favorite of props I own. Its something that is unquiely mine but identifable, everyone knows its a saber. I dont know what the deal is with Random these days, but I love my saber.
So if your going to get your own its your call, if I had to do it over again I would save the first round of money and get a random saber. However Rsla is a nice alternative to a hardware saber.

i have 2 RLSA sabers and they are awsome. They are both Gstyle versions, one is half black powdercoated, and the other is a very battle worn hilt. Any time i wanted a change to a saber he was happy to do so, whether it was adding a activation button, or a covertec knob. I origionally was going to by a random saber close too a year ago, but noticed the waiting list would take forever. They were also ahving email problems at the time so i got ver fustrated. I jsut didnt want to wait over a year for my order to be made. They really need to get some more people so they can bust out the designs quicker (but keep there quality). I have bought a random sabers orange stunt blade. Its very high quality and suber strong because its a sold acrylic blade. But if you really want to be doing some dueling, i wouldnt get one because that sucker makes the saber heavy and not comfortably balanced. RLSA sells acrylic blades that are hollow on the inside, making them alot lighter for fast combat. They also sell clear pollycarb blades that are even lighter and better for dueling. If you talk to Rob from RLSA he has told me he would do a custom design for me(maybe since i order from him alot), but his prices for a custom design might be a little higher than what random might charge. It all depends on if you want something now or in 2 years, sicne randoms list is out of control lol.

Ive noticed that none of his sabers have D-rings or covertec clips on them. Do you have to pay seperatly for the clips?
As for getting one im holding off until christmas when i usually get a good amount of money. Ive talked to Rob a bit and he seems to be a nice guy. Usually i try and keep a lookout for ones that go on sale for $50 dollars. He's got one now but i don't have the money:(
And i agree about random sabers. I know they have at least 50 people that are on the wait least, not county the 20 that has a saber in progress. they say on there fact that it usually takes a week to finish a saber, boy are they far from it.

yea u need to check frequently with robs supplies. Alot of his designs can soemtimes be out there, and not exactly what i would want, thats why i like the G styles. And yes if you want to get a covertec knob you have to tell Rob, and its very cheap to add, like only 5 bucks for an aluminum one, and the plastics even cheaper. Its nice too because they are the knobs that are shapped to fit the saber. Trust me rob will change any design he has for what you want, he added a aluminumn knurled knob to my saber for a little extra. Some desings are somewhat bland, and if you ask he can spice them up how you want. Honestly though if you want an EL kit, i wouldnt neccessarily get it from RLSA. I love robs hilts but his EL blades could be better like parks. His blades are a single tub with teh el slid in. It wroks fine, but the wire rattles somewhat against teh plastic, and his blades dont jsut plug in , because he deonst use the MonoJack plug on his to save room. Also the parks style blades i dont think make noise because teh wire is in a plolyethelene (spelling) tube, which is then inside a polycarb tube. I jsut thigns those are better quality. If you want a blade kit try www.thecustomsabershop.com . I ahvent ordered from tehm yet but they have great basic kits for making el blades, and now they are startying to make kits to do LUXEON led sabers, and converstion kits for your MR sabers. So if you want a good hilt fast def get a RLSA, but i would suggest getting a blade elsewhere, i only got the blade cause it was a good deal he had on EBAY. (oh yea check his ebay sales sometimes, jsut look for custom saber, or clcik his ebay link on his site) lol i type tooo much

Well I am waiting for his saber to come in. I think I am going to have to add myself a D ring or a Nob so I can use the clip.
