Well, I finally got this one finished. Quick stats: 7.4v li-ion powering an Ultrasound v2.5, powering a P4 white led with yellow filter. Leather-wrapped grips, functional Graflex clamp, power kill port, on-hilt power kill plug storage (on pommel), standby blinking yellow led, yellow led ring main switch. ::Drool::
Love that leather wrap. I thought about doing that with mine, but went with wood instead.

Years ago, I posted several of my lightsabers here. Since that time, the website I had (through AOL) got deleted (thanks to AOL). So, all of my old links yield nothing. Thus, I've started a new site, and will show some of my sabers below. My favored saber... My first saber... Child/Youngling saber... The Dark Woman's saber... A basic saber... An "ancient" lightsaber... That would be the "highlights" of my sabers over several years. I actually have the itch to make more, and may do so... ~Kai-Rhann

Thank you, my friend. As I'm getting back into the swing of things, I've started to rework the inner chamber to my favorite saber. I'm working with all brass and aluminum fittings, most are plumbing parts that I am reworking (cutting the threaded ends off, beveling the ends, re-boring the inside to allow all the pipes to fit into one another...fun stuff). The little brass piece at the small end (where the crystals will eventually be placed) is a part from a bank-teller microphone from where I work. These are normally black, but I had a scratched one and discovered that the metal beneath was solid brass. Here's the progress thus far (just started working on it today in my spare time)... I still have a lot of work to do, but with any luck it should be an improvement over the previous design. ~Kai-Rhann

Began working on the crystals today. However, I need to go scouting for actual crystals. Here, I've fashioned some "mock-ups" out of plastic (old screwdriver handle). The primary crystal will be attached to the main assembly, the "power cell" , as it where. The focusing crystal will have a separate, smaller housing that will slide into the saber ahead of the primary crystal/power cell assembly. I want to use quartz or some other natural crystal, within budget of course. I live in a fairly "artsy" town, and there are a couple of shops that might sell what I'm seeking. At any rate, this is where it is currently... ~Kai-Rhann

Here is something I just threw together with remnants in my garage. I made it for the son of a friend of mine because he did something for me that I could never repay. His son's favorite color is orange hence the color. Attachments:

Well done, I like it.
Good use of some familiar parts: I like the weed trimmer Bump Knob for the pommel, and it looks like you used part of a metal wire shelf (pole/leg) for the main body.
It's good to see sabers customized with a bit of color, namely your use of orange. Certainly gives it unique character.

Thoughts this week have been of the Ithorian Jedi. As part of my character back story, my master was Rhu Tahn, an Ithorian Jedi Master. I wondered about Rhu Tahn, and what sort of Lightsaber an Ithorian might create. Thus, wheels and gears began to turn, and I made what I think might be an example of a blending of materials, in this case brass for metal components, and bamboo for a large part of the body of the weapon. I chose brass to compliment the warmth of the wood. Currently the saber is rather dirtied up from working quickly (about 2 days of work during what breaks I get). I actually like it this way, as it gives it a somewhat archaic, well used look about it. ~Kai-Rhann

I like that a lot. I have wood elements in my saber. I think the wood really adds an element of where we came from as well as elegance.
