Hi, my given name is Lillian, and I’ve been a Star Wars enthusiast ever since Return of the Jedi hit the big screen way back when! I didn’t have a costume per say, more like a basic wardrobe that consisted of many pairs of black pants and shirts, a long black cloak and a really nice pair of tall black boots. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the flashlight with the clear green plastic disk glued to the top.
My fandom was placed on the back burner however, while I did things like: got married, had kids, bought a house, etc. But my obsession returned in 1997 when the Original Trilogy was re-released in theaters as the Special Edition, and I love the prequels just as much, even more!
I don’t think there has been a day since then when I have not thought about the Star Wars saga, even if it was only in the brief moment before falling to sleep at night. It's my inspiration.
I’ve been very much a follower of the US Space Program since 1969. As a child I watched the Apollo 11 mission on tv and it totally sparked my imagination and inspired my love of space exploration. I belong to a local Astronomy club and I stargaze whenever the night allows. I was a Cub Scout leader for about 8 years, and I love taking the boys camping where the skies are dark and I can teach them about the stars, the planets and their moons, and galaxies far, far away! Even though Scouts is finished, I try to get myself out and camp at least a couple of times a year.
I’ve been married for 21 years to this really cool guy named Olivier and we have three children: Andrew aka Anim8r (19), Adam(16) and Anthony(12). They enjoy having a crazy mom (I think), especially when they have to eat ice cream for dinner because I’ve been swallowed by either the computer, or the sewing machine, or my guitar, or any combination thereof!
I started college as an Art major back in 1981, right after high school, and I’m still at it. I go back and take a course or two every few years toward my Liberal Arts degree. I ran a Child Day Care business for 11 years, taught Kindergarten for 3. Now and then, I go back to school, I like taking classes in literature, film, and art. I work part time for a Fire/Water Damage Restoration and Reconstruction company doing mostly fire salvage and furnace accident cleanups. Talk about Darth Real Life! What I really want to do is just paint---
I’m absolutely addicted to writing… I’ve written poetry and short prose, outlined a novel (which I’ve begun to flesh out in screenplay format), and I just can’t stop writing SW fan-fic! I just can’t stop… can’t stop… can’t… stop! I’m too shy to post it though!
I also have a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do and I have trained in figure skating. I play the guitar a little; I just strum for fun and croon in private. I also collect swords, and I'd like to learn to shoot a gun, just because. Carpentry is another hobby, and next Summer I hope to build a life-size Jedi Starsfighter in my back yard. Hmm, that’s what I said last year.
And... I finally got my motorcycle liscence--- after all these years!
Anyway... it's wonderful to have found a place like the Jedi Assembly. Having an obsession is much more fun when there are others to share it with! ;D
