I thought I would introduce myself to you guys in the Outer Rim. I live in the South East of the UK. I have focused on collecting the MR lightsabers. My Favourite is the Obi-Wan AOTC. I have also got 7 other ltd edition sabers and 2 fx sabers. I'm am thinking about getting an Obi-Wan Costume from MPM in the next couple of months.

I do not know MPM, is it good? I have found that in starwars costumes, some parts are better made ourselves, by fans...

The MPM costumes are quite nice. Theres a few inaccuracies compared to specific jedi costumes but on the whole they are good. The material is a good texture and the quality of the samples I saw were excellent. The main area that let them down was thr tabbards, they cross in front which they shouldnt do on something like a obi-wan style. Saying that it wouldnt be hard to alter so it didnt though. If you cant sew and dont mind spending the money its a viable option. Much better to make your own though if you can.

Corja, you might be able to get your prof. to give you the assignments before you leave, you could work on them on the flight over, and back as well TMPJE, true, if you can sew, you might make a better more accurate costume, if you have the time & a machine, but the MPM costumes look pretty good in the pics on the website, & Jeffrek has seen them, I know we can take his word on the quality of fabric, so that sounds like a plan if you can't or don't want to make your own. Usually making your own is a bit more economic than purchasing a costume. Hi Jeffrek, how goes it? Glad to have your feedback on the MPM stuff. Corja is planning to come to CIII, how about you guys?

Yes Nova, I might be able to see with my teachers about the work. I'll first have to see how the new school works... It is a new environment for me, I do not know them yet, perhaps a mind trick will work...

Hey Nova, I don't have that much time and haven't used a sewing machine since I was about 14 at school and wasn't that good at it either .

Like I said, it's sort of time vs money, but actually, a Jedi Costume is a relatively simple project As for time, I usually work 2 jobs & freelance on the side as well, but I'm not much of a sleeper, so, sew, when most people would be sleeping.

At the moment there are several of us planning on attending C3. 2-4 of us from our Live Roleplay group and I had a chat with some UK Garrison friends at Memorabilia a couple of weeks ago and a few of them are planning on going too so it should be fun. Im pretty excited already I will of course be taking the jedi outfit along but Im also going to finish off my IRG too and try to fit that in the suitcase along with everything else.

Hi Aalya,
Well I go to London two or three times per year and there are plenty of good textile shops hidden there. Are you looking for something specific? I live in Switzerland most of the time and I found two great textile here. One like Anakin's under shirt in AOTC and the other like Obi-Wan's vest and tabards. If you want I could draw you an outline of how to create the "Kimono" type vest and E-mail to you?

Hiya Aayla (thats going to confuse me with you being a bloke especially as one of out lot is doing the female Aayla costume currently). The 3 links that were posted in your introduction thread are probably the most useful you will find. There are also a couple of good pictures created by one of the members here and at the RL (Rebel Legion) that graphically explain whats needed very well. and also:- While I think its always better to make your own outfit if the making is a bit too much you could always buy a set from www.mpmcostumes.com which is Jar Min's site. Finding the right sorts of material is probably the hardest thing but with access to london and all the shops there you should be able to find suitable material. Im a great believer that the texture is just as important as the colour when it comes to Jedi robes. You dont want something to 'modern' in look so old fashioned linens are usually the most suitable. Heres us at memorabilia this past weekend At the moment there are only 5 jedi in the UKG but that number will be growing
