I read somewhere that the voice/character of "Jar Jar" was loosely based on the character of "Ruby Rod" from the movie "Fifth Element" but George wanted Jar Jar to be more child-like and "innocent" --> if the actor had spoken Jar Jar's lines QUICKLY ... (the way Ruby Rod talks in Fifth Element" : "Corbin,Corbin... Corbin-my-man.. ohmygodohmygodohmygod.. CORBIN!"); instead of talking slowly like a kindergarten teacher speaking to a room full of youngliongs ... then Jar Jar would have WORKED! as it stands, everything he says, sounds like he's talking to a five year old. its all in the voice. next time you watch "The Jar Jar show" TPM, picture the voice/character of Ruby Rod from Fifth Element. it helps.

I am in group 2. I think the character had a purpose... to lead the Jedi to the underwater city where they could get help. He also provided a few laughs during that part of the movie. By the time they get to Tatooine, however, he has worn out his welcome.
I love the Fifth Element, and Ruby Rod. I'll have to try that!

Jar-Jar was used...it wasn't his fault he was weak-minded...besides, if it weren't for Jar-Jar being Naboo's link to the Gungans, what would have happened to Naboo? Would they have been able to win? Yes, it's theoretically possible that Anakin would have still flew up and destroyed the control ship, but my guess is it would have been much more difficult for the Queen to get to the throne room to capture Gunray with the amount of battle droids mdeployed, and she would have lost many more gaurds.

I prefer cat4. I like him but not love him. becides he wasent compleatly cgi, at most the only cgi is the head and flappy ears. but I would have to say 75% of the time its a guy in a suit. you can see in also in ep 2 when ani is walking around the bar. same with I forget his name but the guy who played three pee oh.

I kinda like Jar Jar and he did have his purpose even if he was used by Palpatine to make sure he got that vote to put the troopers as his army. His voice tho was a bit distracting and you couldn't hardly take him serious as a member of the Senate. 5th Element is another one of my favorite movies. LOL its kinda hard to imagine Jar Jar talking like Ruby Rod but funny!! ;D

I've come to accept Jar Jar as part of the SW universe... he is useful I suppose... the kids love him, and the rest love to hate him!

Yeah, same here. Funny thing is that my kids were the ones who actually indirectly got me into this. During college and those type years, I never bought toys or anything like that. It was always clothes and electronics...that type of adult stuff...
but once I had my first child, my wife and i would start going to the toy stores again and wouldn't you know it, I started buying stuff again!!! That's what started it...so, yes, we are kids at heart and I wouldn't change a thing.
I think of my brothers, for example. They are both in financial industries (accounting, investing, etc.) and they would NEVER be caught in a toy store buying some Star Wars toy and they would NEVER even THINK of dressing up in a Star Wars costume!!!!
Me?? Heck, I wish I could live in my jedi outfit!!! I go to as many RL and 501st events as I can fit in my calendar and I have a whole room with Star Wars toys!!!!
I am the youngest in my family, but I don't really think that means anything, it just is how you approach life and what you do to have fun. I have chosen Star Wars as my main release...I'm glad you all have too!!!
