Blasts of charred buildings sprayed out in all directions as Mataka dove inside of an empty building. She was breathing hard when she felt the death of her comrad. She shook her head in pain an moved to the other side of the building ,out the backway. Her lightsaber hummed closley as she pushed the pain away. There was still a job to do here and that would need to be compleated first. Yet in the pit of her stomach she somehow knew that the end was comming for herself. Her squad was lost and there was no visible tactical leader that could be found. The zabraks themseves were nowhere to be seen. In a way that made Mataka breath easier as she dusted off her robes.
"One less reason not to worry about running into someones home un-invited.." She stated to herself , swiping her purple blade in the air , blocking stray shots that rocketed into other buildings, scattering a rain of sparks. A shifting sound behind her caused her to stop and swing her blade around, only to connect it with Kirruck's blade.
"Miss me?" He smiled solomley as the shock spreed to disbelief on her own face. She nodded back to him, dirt covered face as she saw the pain in his eyes too.
"Yes.. and I miss him too. but we need to keep moving..." She layed a hand on his shoulder and squeesed, just as another attack came. Kirruck shouted and time slowed as both Jedi brought their weapons to bear. Yet it didn't do much good in the tight space they were in. Mataka shoved the younger jedi back to blocke a bolt and missed.. hitting her square in the chest. Kirrick screamed and flashed his eyes over to the building using a combination of force push and pull as he droped his lightsaber. He concentrated hard as a bolt cliped him in the shoulder. The pain stung but he stayed with it as the building collapsed covering the screams that had started. A dust cloud shot up and around trapping the young Jedi Knight. He half cared as he went to his knees and lifted Mataka into his arms. She opened her eyes and looked at him, blood on the corners of her mouth.
"Why so sad?" SHe asked as if nothing was wrong. Kirruk bit his lower lip as he held her hand. Shouting was heard and he knew he was caught.
"We have failed Mataka...I wasn't.." He drifted as she hushed him softly. He had known her sense he was at the Jedi temple. A life of friendship and now two fo his own were leaving him and he would soon join them. It must have shown on his face for she simply smiled.
"No we haven't.. nothing is ever finished. You are a Jedi knight.. never..for..get..." she squeesed his hand one last time as he promised and then she was still. Kirruk closed her eyes with his hand and layed her back gently as he stood, picking up his lightsaber once more he stood with his back to the rubble and waited....

CHAPTER 42
"Don't play mind games with me Brax.." Mephitso challenged, walking as well as he could into the large hanger. His face was filled with anger as he looked past to see Aerith laying on the ramp. He wanted nothing more then to run to her side, but first he had to deal with Brax.
"This is not a game boy.." He cooed stopping halfway to him. "While you two were running threw the ship and distracting Daerith I took the liberty of setting the ship on self-destruct. It is only a matter of moments before the alarms will signal the finial stages..."
As if by cue the ship shook and another alarm sounded. This one a bright bellow that pierced the side of Mephitso's skull. Brax struck at that very moment, moving foward and kicking the Sith in the solarplex. Mephitso went to his knees, coughing up blood, as he was then thrown over towards where Aerith lay. "So you wish to see her one last time.. then by all means..." Came the jaunted reply as Mephitso crawled to his knees and looked up at the side of the ship.
"Aerith.." He closed his eyes for a moment, hoping the goddess would hear his pain. Yet there was nothing but his own breathing and the tapping of Brax's boots as he neared.
"Time to say goodbye.."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daerith drove his blade wildely towards the female. Pressing her back farther as she only then started to block his attacks. He smiled as she was tiring from the pounding she recieved. At last he would win and be able to fufile his goal! Although he couldn't see out of one eye it only fueld his anger and drove him onward. As soon as she was elimanated he would deal with Brax and control would be his once again!
"You are weakening.." He spat as she parried a slash to the shoulder. Sho'ar ignored his comment and kicked out and down as she came in with another jab to his side. Daerith seemed to expect the kick and took it with a grunt as he blocked her blade. In retaliation he opened his palm with a force push sending her back against the wall and to the ground. The Jedi rolled back to her feet just intime to meet his blade once more.
"Never underestimate a Jedi.." SHe replied back and locked their blades as she twisted and kicked in to flip over him and break the hold. In one fluent motion she stabed back and felt the impact threw flesh in the mans side. Daerith went rigd and fell to his knees, hands letting go of the weapon as they moved to his side. He swayed side to side like a snake and looked up to see the Jedi in front of him.
"Finish it.." He rasped, kning that he had been the fool. Instead Sho'ar turned off her lightsaber and began to walk away.
"You are defeated. Jedi do not kill unless we have to.." Her voice shook as his age began to show on his face. Another death rolled threw the force at that very moment bringing another pain to her face. "Enough have died from your evil.. no more shall today.." SHe finished and then left him as she entered the door to the hanger bay. Daerith fell to his side and laughed just as the alarm sounded.
"Then we all will die..but not before I take you with me Brax.." He rasped going back to his knees and standing....
Mephitso opened his eyes as he rolled to his side and back to a crouched position. His yellow eyes a deep haze as Brax walked closer towards him. ' I will not die here.. not yet.. not this soon'. He thought as he stood shakly.
"When will you learn to just give up..You've lost and now you will die here.." Brax snarled and came in for a blow when he was suddenly knocked off his feet and thrown half-way acroos the hanger. He landed on his back with a heavy thud as Mephitso looked to see the Jedi Master enter the hanger with a grim expression on her face.
"You're still alive.." He sounded suprised as she walked briskly over to him. He saw her robes were charred from a lightsaber and that she was limping slightly.
"Naturally. Get on the ship.. we need to hurry.." She walked ahead of him and looked at Aerith. Though she wasn't an expert Sho'ar knew that the girl would give birth soon. Mephitso felt like argueing but kept his mouth shut as he moved to go to Aerith. Carefully he pulled her to him and they disapeared onto the ship.
"You are bolder then I thought.." Brax shot out as he stood. His face was a mass of scars from the medical room as he approached her. The Jedi recongised him from the recording almost at once as she raised her weapon.
"You're the one.. the true threat.." SHe stated blandly. The man before frowned as if he was a child with his hand caught in a sweetbin. The ringing alarm stopped and mechanical voice took over.
" five minutes to self-destruct..."
"So you've figured it out..." He stated with a pale face as he took a step foward. The Jedi flashed her weapon in warning, making a smile began to form on the edges of his lips."Come now... just because you have defeated Daerith dosen't mean you can best me.."
"A poor choice of words for one who placed the invitation.." She replied back. He was stalling them for time and a poor choice it was turning out to be. Brax chuckled as he walked closer, more malevont then ever. In his eyes read death, pain and sorrow to all who crossed his path. He was meaning to destroy a hundred men to have his way. Sho'ar decided it was time to change the game.
"Daerith is still alive.. and I will not let you hurt another.." She poked her words carefully to him. Brax instead only smiled.
"No matter.. if I can't leave then we all die.." He charged at her with blinding speed. Shocked and suprised at this sudden movement she almost didn't respod and then again.. dind't have to as a blaster bolt sizzled out of nowhere and clipped the man in the side. Brax went flying headlong into the Jedi Master making her let out a force push to nudge him over a few feet. She turned to see Daerith at the bay door, clutching his side with one hand and holding a blaster with another. He didn't seem to see anyone else as Brax rolled to his side and screamed in defiant rage that was drowned out..
'two minutes to self-desctruct..'
Sho'ar took the moment to thumb the switch to her weapon and make it back to the ramp. Mephitso was kneelings to Aerith who had just begun to stir with pain. The Sith looked over for anything he could do to help and was ignored as the Jedi hit switches to the control of the ship and started to take-off.
"Hang-on.." SHe yelled back as the mechanical whine rose and the ramp closed up, pressurising air into the cabin.
Coughing Brax looked to see the Jedi taking off in his ship and looked over at Daerith with much suprise. The shot to his ribes was bleeding threw his uniform as he stood and glared at him. "No..NO!.." he shouted and cursed everything he could at Daerith as he walked over towards him with murder in his blue eyes.
"You have failed Brax.. and now we all shall parish.." He wheezed and droped the blaster as he fell dead to the floor. Not even giving him the satisfaction to kill him himself as Brax reached the dead man.
"Curse you...curse you all!." He whispered and then reached for a key card in Daeriths right breast pocket. Standing he held the card and ran back into the ship as small explosions were starting to be heard.
'thirty-seconds to self-desctruct..'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The small freighter broke into space and lurched to the side as Sho'ar switched the com to the Republic channels. Her hands grasped the unfamiliar equipment as she learched past a torpedo that honed in on the ship, only to hit anoter Republic ship directly behind.
"All units evac! stand down to standard .032." Her voice was hoarse and dry as she watched out in the viewport. The Republic fighters went to formation and left the imeadiate area in time to watch the massive ship exploade and fade into nothing...

CHAPTER 43
Kirruk waited for the enemy to approach. He could taste them nearby as he felt them threw the force. Calming his breathing he twirled his lightsaber and took Mataka's from the ground in one motion. If he was going to die then it would be while fighting for what he stood for!
"Come on.. where are you.. come get me!" He shouted the challenge as he guarded his comrades body. Nothing happened for a few more moments and Kirruk was confused. Why wern't they attacking? Shouts of panic then drifted to him and Kirruk had the urdge to look up into the sky. A brilliant flash was visible in the darkening sky, and somehow he knew that it was over.
"Master Sho'ar.." He breathed and looked back down to see somone come around the corner. A republic soldier who had managed to survive the assult rushed up to him with a smile on his face until he saw Mataka laying on the ground.
"Sir.. we have recieved word.." He lowered his eyes as if praying to his own god. Perhaps he was but Kirruk only believed in the force.
"What exactly.. Master Sho'ar?" He asked puzzled, for he knew she couldnt be dead. He would have felt her pass into the force himself.
"Is arriving here shortly as well as a back-up from the Republic. Somehow, sir.. the fighters have lost the will to fight and were easily rounded up by our own or the locals that were in what appears to be a worship hall..." The soldier too sounded confused as the young knight lifted mataka up in his arms and only walked past the man. 'If you would have only held out for a few more moments.. and yet you knew.. you knoew I would live..' He thought to Mataka. The dyas events would lay heavily on his heart for years to come as he was greeted by the zabrak with thanks. Shouts of where their beloved prestiess was heard as groups of the people were appearing from out of nowhere. On kindly took the burden of carrying his dead comrade from him and Kirruk instantly lowered his hand to gaze at her once prized weapon.
"I won't forget.." He whispered , clipping the blade to his belt and hooking his to matakka's belt before they took her to the republic soldiers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aerith screamed in pain as the ship buckled, entering into the planets atmosphere. Mephitso tried to sooth her pain as he didn't know what to do. The pain was almost too much for him to bear as he held her hand and had her try to focus on him.
"We're safe.. just stay with me Aerith.." He begged as she screamed out once more and closed her eyes. The ship now was in the landing zone and as soon as it touched the only clear ground they hand the Jedi was up out of her seat and by the womens side as the ramp lowered. A small crowd had already gathered and Kirruk was among them. Mephitso staggered out and fell to his knees yelling for help and help came....
. Voices told her to calm down and that it would be over soon. Her head hurt as a light seemed to come before her once more. Only for a moment as the goddess spoke to her one more time....
'You are safe now child.. The Jedi will help you now.. but remember what I said of the outcome. You will have years ahead of you but everything comes at a price..'
"NO!" She screamed and found hands on her and a gentle face looking down on her. A face she never saw before. Aeriths body convulsed as she was lifted up and placed on the cool floor of the ship.
"Relax.. breath Aerith.. I am here to help you. My name is Sho'ar.." The words soothed her and Aerith complied in only moments. Republic soldiers played crowd control as a few others tended to Mephitso.
"My baby.." She cired, trying to sit up. Soft but gentl hands pushed her back down as Sho'ar spoke to her again.
"You need to push Aerith.. the baby is almost there.." She swollowed as she watched the girl scream and push as she was told. The medic at the other end worked franticly to try and bring the child out. 'Just how do I tell this women that she will not ba able to keep her child here?' Aerith screamed again, breaking her away from all other thoughts. The girl did one more push and then relaxed as a joyas cry broke the silence.
"It's a boy. Compleatly healthy!." The medic cleaned the child up quickly with his feild kit and handed the child to Aerith. After all she went threw she was now holding the one thing that she wanted most in the world. Her eyes glowed with love as if she forgot everything else. Standing sho'ar let the medic kick her out as they tended mother and child.
Mephitsp was laying on a strecher being tended and fussed over as he complained he was alright. The Jedi Master hid a smile as both looked at each other. The look she gave him was serious and somber. Mephitso opened his eyes wide and then looked up the ramp to where Aerith and his firstborn were, and then back to her. His eyes read with a saddness and greater understanding as if he knew what she was already going to say. Instead Sho'ar smiled and turned to Kirruk as he approached her. Let a few days pass and things to recover before anything else. Facing the young Knight she gave him the deepest look of sorrow. It was everything that had happened in the past few hours. A great deal lost and found in not the people but in themselves.
"You don't have to say anything Kirruk.. I felt it too. Never forget that they are always with us. Never truly gone.." SHe replied before he could speak, and noticed he had replaced his lightsaber with that of Matakas. Sho'ar thought it appropiate and didn't say a word on anything as the Jedi looked over to see Aerith being taking off to a better medical facility.
"Master..the child?" He asked already understanding the owrds that she had said. A jedi should rejoice for those who joined the force. Never are they truly gone. but more closer to them..
'So he feels it too.. intresting.. ' Taking a deep breath she moved them along the crowd to have a private discussion of what she had discovered...
Two weeks later the city was under much needed repirs. Better even, with the help of the Republic as the port re-opened and papers were signed. Yet for Aerith it was an even sadder day as she stood holdhing her child in her arms.
"No.. you can't take him.." Aerith snapped as she turned to face Mephitso and the two Jedi. "We can train him and he is better off here." Mephitso was dressed in an all black robes, with golden trim. He was practicaly healed and moved as if nothing happened two weeks before. He only lowered his eyes as Sho'ar steped foward.
"The child isn't safe here. Daerith wanted you for your child as you told us time and time again. What makes you think that there arn't others like him out there. The Jedi council agrees that he needs to be trained as a Jedi. He will be safe on Coruscant and noone will be able to touch him there." SHe said rationally . Aerith closed her eyes as she clutched the child to her. What was said was true but she knew that giving her son up would mean missing out on everything else.
"Yet you would not tell him of where he came from or who we are.." She stated as her baby cooed softly. Sho'ar lowered her head slightly and moved closer. Kirruck stood near Mephitso and only watched. He knew the child was powerful and others would only seek that power.
"It is against the code to have attachment Aerith. Family is attachment. None of us know of who are familys are. I know it sounds cruel, but I give you my word that he will be safe and become the man I know you want him to be someday. You have to let go now. It is for the best.. I will make sure he is watched. Your son has great potential..." She softend her words as she reached for the child. Aerith stiffened for only a moment and let go of her baby. A tear rolled down her face as Sho'ar coved him up. Mephitso moved up to his bride to comfert her.
"Thank you.." He said to the Jedi.. "For everything.." The two Jedi bowed to the couple as the child began to stir.
"I have a feeling that we shall meet again Aerith and Mephitso.." She could feel the truth in her words as she began to walk out of the room. The force would somehow lead them together again, but would that also this child? Stopping by the door she asked one more question. "The childs name?" Aerith raised her head slightly and smiled threw the tears.
"Komar.." She breathed his name with pride as the Jedi master smiled and covered the child up in her cloak.
"Komar.. " The Jedi Master repeated with a smile as she left the room and closed the door. Mephitso huged his wife as the footsteps faded. They would have other children but he knew that his pride would always be his firstborn son. As they turned to gaze out off the balcony to oversee the new construction a crystaline voice rang in the room.
'Always a price to pay and the outcome always differs. A greater path still lays beofre you my children..'
"So it does.." Muttered Mephitso as they watched their son leave with the Jedi to begin his own destiny. They would see him again one day, and until then they would do the goddess bidding as she has willed their son to spread across the stars.....
PRLOGUE
A small one-man craft shot threw the darkness of space. It's heading on an unknown destination set by the formar owner. Eletrical mechanics beeped and clicked as the man sitting at the controls reached for a bacta patch. His hand shook almost violently as the patch was placed in his side . Everythign he had worked for was destroyed by the man he thought incapable of doing.He himself almost parishing in the ship's blast. Luckly he was thought dead, and all the better for the moment.
"Daerith..if you were alive.." His vile words cut threw asthe man known as Brax spun threw space on a heading he hope would lead him back to a step-hold to start anew. 'This time I won't fail.. I will destroy what should have been mine. I will have the Jedi in ruins and Aerith and her whole family will be destroyed..'
