[glow=red,2,300]
Comet Machholz is in the Evening Sky near Orion. I could see it last night with out aid, telescope or binoculars. Looks like it will be a good show for the next few weeks.
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] I got my boys a telescope for Christmas ... I hope I can keep it wrapped until then [/glow] ;D

Haven't seen it yet... I live in light-pollutionville so I don't think this will be a naked eye object for me. I'll need binocs, and I'll need to be someplace other than my yard. There are trees that block the southern horizon up to about 55/60deg, (90 being zenith), so to view even the Orion Nebula I have to peek through branches. Luckily they're leafless at the moment. Sometimes I wish I could just shear the top off of the woods!

I live in the big city, couldn't see it. But perhaps this weekend I will drive out to where I can. I love Astronomy(I think I spelled that right.) I love studying the stars and space. It is just so awesome.

I love Astronomy(I think I spelled that right.) I love studying the stars and space. It is just so awesome. Yeah... isn't it though.... There's a term among stargazers called the "wow factor" (no girls, not that WOW... ). The wow in this case refers to when you first see a celestial object and it totally blows you away... leaves you dumb. Like when I saw the Venus transit through the scope... I was mesmerized... like the whole solar system suddenly became a 3 dimentional plane and I felt my place in it.... amazing, undescribable!

Nope... can't see it... must be behind that tree... Judging by the chart, I should be able to glimpse it around the end of the month, when it's highest in the sky... that is, if my neighbor can turn off the headlights on his porch.

I didn't know of the comet. However I had heard of hte Geminai metors, unfortunatly I mised their peek. It does seen by the 31 the comet will appear to have been shot out of Orion's bow. It'll look like a speeding arrow.

Well, it's been cloudy here in the Detroit area for the past couple of nights anyhow. Could see it if I wanted too. Which I do!!!!! But when the clouds are in the way, I just want to kick mother nature in the Arse, and say "Hey, get the heck out of my way. I'm trying to see the show!!!!!!!"

Didn't know about the comet. Did know about the meteors.
But it's been rain and clouds here in Seattle.

Humm Maybe if you asked 'mother nature' nicely, you'll get a better result. ;-)

Yeah, it was sooooo clear here early in the evening but then it clouded over so I didn't see any Geminids.
