Man if the dessert did that to obi-wan I would hate to see what it would have done to anyone else.
"yet" so then obi-wan must have had a feeling that his time was soon then?

Well, Luke was an adult by then, so I would think that Obi-Wan knew that something was going happen.
Desert environments can be hard on people. All that sun can really age the skin. And it wasn't just the desert that would age him. Obi-Wan was living the life of a hermit; minimal technology, health care, everything. Sure the Jedi life is simple, but not harsh.

Vader wasn't "looking" for Luke or Leia...and they weren't force practicioners then...not really....I also think Obi-Wan's presence would have eclipsed theirs anyway since Anakin/Vader was so attuned to it.

On the actual topic... I think had it purely been a duel between Obi-Wan and Vader (no storm troopers, no need for Luke to escape etc) then I think that Obi-Wan could still have beaten Vader, purely because of his use of Form III would be impossible for Vader to overcome. In reference to the comment that Vader is more droid, so would not get tired as quickly, I'd disagree completely. Anakin lost both his lower legs and both his lower arms, but the prosthetics could compensate for that. However, I think his artificial breathing would have been his eventual undoing, in that he breathed at a constant rate. If someone is to suddenly start exerting themself, they're going to have to breathe more to supply more oxygen, and I don't think Vader's life-support systems would have compensated for the extended exertion for long, and as his body wouldn't have been getting as much oxygen it needed, he would eventually have had to stop to bring his body's requirements back into the life-support system's capacity to provide.

I agree with tanzan vader's breathing system would not stand up to over exertion and that would cause his body to start to shut down do to lack of oxygen

I can see it now.. Vader about to do in Obi and then passes out from lack of air!!! In all honesty, that's probably what would have happened, if the duel had been allowed to progress on it's own. Think of how during his fights with Luke, Vader often did 'something' to cause a stalemate to get distance (or literally breathing room) In the end, Anakin did die of suffocation, when his life-support systems failed (due to the Force Lightning), which is probably one of the most horrible ways a person can die
