Actually...
Sidious chose the Wrong Guy to try and Turn in the First Place. And when joined by his Son, was quite Simply out numbered.
Sidious' downfall was written in the Stars. The results were Obvious. Before Sidious even Began his campaign to Run the Show, he was Blinded & Defeated by his own Ego and a Common - Lust for Power. Some call it, ...the Darkside!

Jedi Shatir, Please tell me that you don't think Sidious ever told the Truth. With Vader out of the way, He would have taken Luke in. Sure, what Other choice did he have? There's no one left! Sidious thinks, Vader's Broken, Replace him. Also because he was aware of the growing risk a Union posed to him.
Join Me! -Sidous sez as he drives the wedge deeper between Father and Son. Plan: Divide and conquer. Solution: UNITE! Result: Sidious Defeated! Love comes after the fact, as daddy lies dying. Not too late, - At the last moment, but not as a Motivator of Action.

Ok, come on now........the point here is being totally missed.......
Luke would not have been turned! Period!
If Luke had killed Vader what in the world makes you think that Sidious could have turned Luke?
Luke did not have the fatherly influence that Anakin had of Sidious........he spent his entire life feeling the Emporer as an enemy. Anakin counted Sidious/Palpatine as his friend even before falling to the dark side.
Luke was not just fighting for himself but also his sister and he would have stood toe to toe until Sidious killed him. He was no match for Sidious nor would he turn....the only thing left was to be killed.
The fact that Sidious had a plan to turn Luke meant nothing, Luke was not going to be turned, on that he would have stood firm, just as Obi-Wan did when tempted by Dooku. Sidious was determined to either turn or kill Luke and would have done the latter when he didn't turn.

Maybe it is for the best that the Jedi order is not as it was in the Old Republic - that is the very reason the old Jedi Order failed to defeat the Sith. Yoda said it himself in the novelisation of rots - they had trained Jedi for centuries to fight the Sith like they had during the Sith Wars, but the Sith had changed and weren't the same enemy. For anything to progress, it must change.

In my opinion the Jedi order was ruined after Anakin and the clone troopers slaughtered them all. What Luke did was neccessary.......he may not have had the wisdom, training, and skills that the old Jedi had, but remember, even though he wasn't ready, teaching a new Jedi order will be a whole new ordeal to experience as a Jedi for Luke. I'm sure he would learn as much from his students as they would from him. Besides most of his training was self-taught. Now, with as long as he had left to live after the original trilogy, I'm sure he could better himself way, way better than any of us could think, and eventually, the order would be re-established as it was in the days of the old republic.

But would you say "ruined" or "completely wiped out"? They're not actually the same thing. Ruined means that it went bad, declined, corrupted or was just not as good as it was. But that didn't happen to the Jedi; they were just exterminated by Palpatine.
What Luke did afterward was start from scatch. You can't compare what he was doing with the old order. It's something completely new. But Luke started out with one huge plus on his side; he did what was impossible for the old order; he redeemed a Sith.

Well I think he did. I was just never a huge fan of his character in the first place, and it just doesnt seem right that some kid can come into the picture that late in life and become a Jedi. I mean look at how much it took for the councel to let Anikin in, and he was much younger. So there you go, my opinion on the matter.

Not only did he fancy his sister, but he used his abilities aggressively (and his lightsaber against those that couldn't defend against it) His fencing skills weren't really upto much either (ie end of ROTJ) I know the EU didn't really have any other character to make the saviour of the Jedi, but it does bug me how Luke has somehow become a Jedi Master just because he says so, rather than having earned the title by training a padawan to knighthood.

Luke could never have ruined the Jedi Order.
It no longer existed before he came on the scene.
He re-founded it (and with the help of Obi-Wan's, Yoda's, and possibly even Anakin's Force Ghosts as well)
was it different > YES. But the prequel makes it clear that it needed to be.

Due my extreme annoyance with the EU, I don't really follow it anymore. I really only pay attention to the movies now. Luke didn't really HAVE to re-start the Jedi Order, per se. All Yoda said was to 'pass on what you have learned', and I'm assuming that meant Leia. Since Lucas never made (and never will make) 7, 8, and 9, we'll never know what his vision for that was.
But did Luke ruin the order? Don't know. Like I said, Lucas never made 7, 8, and 9. And he did not write the EU. 'If it ain't Lucas, it ain't Star Wars'. *ducks* (this is just my opinion. Don't get made at me, please!)

In I' Jedi & I think, The Jedi Academy Triology the students do have robes & tunics, though the book doesn't make real clear what kind of robes or tunics. When Mara comes to the Academy she brings her robe leaves the Academy she folds up her robe.

Tell you the truth i wish he would make another prequel movie to have taken place before episode 1(Episode 0) and explain the Jedi civil war with Malak and revan and maybe a younger yoda.
