Let's talk about pants...
I know Obi-Wan's were cotton dockers, but I prefer to wear leggings, they just feel better under the tunic. I have a few colors, from light, like Obi's to dark brown, which I wear most often.
I was also looking at the arena battle and pausing to see the costumes of the Jedi there, and none of them had any sort of leggings, all were regular pants, even the females, just tucked into the boots. I would find this annoying... I'm the type that cuts tags off of clothing because they annoy me!
I'm curious as to what everyone else wears, and if they were custom made for the costume or bought off the rack at walmart... I've seen lots of leggings, and also I know a guy who wears beige sweat pants, and they look good.

Mine are Lands End cotton knit pants. Not quite as form-fitting as leggings but equally comfortable. I mostly wait until they show up on the over-stocks site. They still have the dark brown ones available on sale www.landsend.com/cd/ov/prod/1,1467,2_17273_17277_30226_118508_96955_,00.html?sid=6032170896072147920&CM_MERCH=PAGE_30226

Leggings & soft pants, not much shows anyway, thinking of doing some Yoda style Hakata.

I wear a dark brown sweded cotton docker-type pant I bought at JCP. Course there's that whole other thread on the fiasco I went through with my first pair of them, Walmart, and a bit of sulfuric acid. Still, the new ones are comfortable and they feel neat, and they have pockets which are useful in a real-world situation where something just won't fit right in your pouches

I have two different pants that I wear...
One of them is a dark brown legging (stretchies) and the other is a more baggier pair of knit pants in a cream color (the pants in my photo at the main site) ....both are very comfortable....
that link you posted sounds interesting Kai.... that maybe something to look into....they kinda look like my cream colored knits....
I try not to sweat the pants too much...you see sooooo little of them....and thicker pants can cause tight boot issues too....I would rather be more comfortable...and have 8" of stretchies showing.

I have two pairs of pants, in slightly different shades, for variety. I buy pants that are a size or two too big and have them altered to the correct waist size, just for room in the legs. I also dyed them just a bit so they would be unique. Another thing I'm definitely going to do this time is sew suspender buttons on them so I can go without the belt on the pants. The bulk of the two belts and the obi is just too much for me. I'm also going to sew stirrups on the legs to keep them tucked in.

I'm also going to sew stirrups on the legs to keep them tucked in. I use the stirrup idea on my pants for my Imperial Officer costume....it works GREAT!

Every time I wear my costume I promise myself that I'll attach stirrups before the next time... well, this time I mean it!

I make my pants. It's not really necessary, but they're not hard to do. I have very, very wide elastic sewn directly onto one pair, like karate pants, a waistband elastic in a casing on another and a pair with side hook and eye closure. All of them work fine.
I've never been that happy with stirrups. I can always feel them under my feet. I just narrow the pant legs a little so they follow the shape of my legs better. And I've also sewn wide, ribbed fabric at the bottom of the pant legs well below the boot tops where they won't show. That holds them in place.

I'm going to have to go with looser fitting pants, myself. Otherwise, I'll have no room for my tail. I'll probably make them. I've made a full-fledged Renaissance noble costume. Pants, piece of cake.

That's a great link, Kai... I think I might order a pair to see how they look under the costume. I would cut out the pockets, thought, because any bulk bothers me. I don't knowhow you men are able to wear the pants with the buttons and zippers and even put stuff in the pockets... I have trouble adjustin the one belt I wear! My husband does that too, with regular clothes. He can tuck layers and layers of shirts into his pants, and sometimes he has the long underwear if it's really cold...
It must be the hip size factor. Males are more narrow, so the clothes lay flat and don't twist all over the place.

Yah I think it is the hip size factor. Liam and Ewan wear dockers without belts, It appears the pants are fitted to their wasits exactly.
