PHOTOS! VIDS of the lighted blade!!! sorry they are huge. 100M the 3 combined. video-1video-2video-3The visual effect is really not the same on video then in real... the blade is not white but more green with a paler line "core" in the center, but is really bright. The camera just can't pick it up. I am trying to capture the clash and lock effect, but the flashing doesn't pick up on camera as it is just too bright. Nevertheless, it gives an idea. What do you guys think?

That's fantastic metal work, did you use a milling machine, or was it done by hand? What did you use for the lower grips? I really like how you shaped the covertec knob to the grip. My only concern would be that the grips might be sharp when held, but other than that, it's fantastic

The top edges of your grips look pretty sharp, to me, though I'm kind of accident prone. If there's something to get cut on, I'd probably find it. With my flesh. And I could see my clothes getting caught on the pointy edges.
I do like the design, I'd just have to make it less likely that's I'd end up hurting myself on it.
The vids won't work for me, either. Maybe I could try saving them and see if that works.

yes it is an awesome saber about how long did it take to assemble or did you do it in intervals?

Very nice, those grips do look a little sharp though, are they metal?

That looks like a LOT of blood sweat and tears when into the construction. I think the sabre looks awesome from emitter tip to pommel end.. Great work. Aww nuts, I can't get the vids to work . Maybe I'm missing a file. <scratches head> Nutcase XP operaiting system .:-P So were didja' find your circuitry for the EL and other el parts? A friend and I want to build our own EL sabers as well. I have one I'd bought buty I don't want to take it apart..... yet.:-D

Hello everyone. Thanks for the nice words. By the way, NO MACHINING INVOLVED!!! I did all that with a dremel, a drill and a tap (for screws). *-The main frame is a chrome pipe. *-The lower grip is metal, I believe its for patio sliding doors... anyway, 6$ for 7 foot long at the hardware store. *-The shroud is a dollar store pepper shaker that I dremmeled to shape. I also used: *-computer thumbscrews *-spare rubber grip for the upper grip. *-rubber O-Ring *-endcaps. *-The luxeon blade is held on an aluminium disc heatsink that is bolted in place. the disc is 1$ at elektrolumens (hard time to drill and tap the holes, but big fun) *-Hex-head bolts Some people from my local association also have concerns about sharpness of the grip, but its not sharp at all. Maybe a little pointy, but not dangerous. I buffed it round with the dremel untill I could pressure it on my hand without hurting. It **might** catch in costume, but so far it never happenned to me. (and I tested it a lot) Note, the blade is Luxeon, not EL. I used a Luxeon Driver and a filter from "Corbin Das" - he posted here about it. Its awesome. Sorry for the vids. They most likely ARE loading, but are 30 megs+ each... might take a while. It was built in intervals... All in all, with electronics soldering, cutting and everything, I did take a while. Would have been faster with proper equipment. Also, the screw holes aren't perfect, but I am happy how it looks. The longest was to gather all the components. Really: finding the best blade system, get the components up to Canada, find the hardware parts needed.... all takes time. I still have some room on the pommel side. I might add some weight to better balance it, but its not bad as is. I aim to add a lightech sound module there in the near future. When the blade is removed, the hilt is not too heavy for a belt hanger. Its actually confortable, even in the car while driving. The localisation of the power-on switch being close to the Covertec knob actually protects accidental turn-on of the saber. I did manage to get some scars, but overall I didn't have much happening to me while building it. Mostly everything went good... but the process was long. If you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Suggestions are also welcomed.

the vids worked for me, although they were very choppy and the background was all fuzzy but the blade showed up OK.
