How uncivilized!
Obi-Wan only used a blaster on Grievous because he had lost his lightsaber. (I'll bet he was never gonna tell that to Anakin! lol )
I don't know why a Jedi would need to carry a blaster, but to each, their own.

A blaster has just one purpose, to kill an enemy. That is just not the jedi way.
At least with a lightsabre you have the choice to merely defend (deflect blaster bolts), return the blaster bolt at an opponent which means you are not initiating hostilities or if neccesary close with your opponent and injure or if needs must kill your opponent.
There is absolutely no reason I can think of where a blaster would be preferable to a lightsabre. Even using a sabre should be a last resort.

i agree but the blaster would have to only have 1 setting stun it would be used for capture(Jedi don't believe in killing prisoners) or or simply for rendering enemies unconscious so you wouldn't have to fight just to complete a mission.

Luke in ESB - blaster and saber - nuf said.
It's my favorite "Jedi" costume and the one image that sticks out in my mind of what a warrior, be it Jedi or other, should look like. I agree with having all the bases covered, heck the custom Jedi Belt I did for myself has a droid caller on it. If you want to carry a blaster, go for it.

Technically it goes against the Jedi way of things to carry a blaster... but it just looks so da mn cool . I love the blasters in SW and wish I had one. I wouldnt carry it on me when I am in my Jedi costume... but I cant see why not. And Uendo, your backstory is that you were once a fallen Jedi isn't it? Sort of reminds me of Kyle Katarn, and he sure wasn't worried about using blasters

My regular Jedi character, Loreen Shadowchaser, would never carry a blaster, but I have another alter ego who is a Smuggler and sort of an "undercover" Jedi, who carries out covert operations.
She carries a blaster and hides her lightsaber, so as not to draw attention to herself as a Jedi.
Some of the NJO Jedi also carry blasters.
I do think blasters are cool, depite my original post. But I think it kind of depends on what sort of Jedi you are emulating. They don't go as well with the PT Jedi as the OT or NJO Jedi, in my opinion.

It's not likely that a member of the Jedi Order in the PT would carry a blaster, just because, as mentioned before, they're uncivilised and designed to kill. And it is also not likely that many Jedi come across four-lightsaber-wielding robots with no force capabilities, so I doubt they'd carry one just in case they do. If a Jedi needed to incapacitate someone, I'm sure they could find a better way to do it than shoot them with a blaster set on stun.

on the flip side of that - did anyone else think Obi had incredible aim for not being a normal user of a blaster? Looks to me like he had done that a few times before
