I carved that one from the Visual Dictionary into a rubberstamp and really liked how it turned out. That's great idea! Did you buy a rubber "blank" for the stamp? I don't believe I've ever seen one of those... hmmm... Also like the Build a Bear voice idea.... hmmm.... BTW, has anyone tried using the faux lead strips and circles used to make "stained glass"? They come in black but I'd also considered painting some with the faux gold leaf paint... using the "leading" to give a 3-D effect.

Here's the "star" light from Fry's (previous page) inside the baseball cube.... (it was pulsating during the red phase) (then slower....) Might make a cool Hologram.... I'm thinking about some different ideas to decorate and would welcome any suggestions.... I think I'd like to keep this one simple because the "star" is the main feature.

That looks cool.
Be interesting to find a way to frost the casing to diffuse the light a little. Someone had done one with the circuit board images on transparancy before when doing one.
Someday I might hit a "Container Store" and do one of these.

That someone was me.....(amost exactly 3 years ago) public.fotki.com/Kait/star_wars/tutorials/easy_jedi_holocron/or home.comcast.net/%7Ejedikai/holocron.pdf I just modified that 2005 tutorial to include the 2 sizes of cling sheets. Kryy....I don't know how I missed seeing your post about that cool star! I'll have to go to Fry's to see if they still have them. Re: frosted cube. I make the cling sheets in publisher using that graphic of a computer chip (?). I can set the color to "washout" which would create that frosted look. It's a good idea that I will try if I find the star still available.

You inspired me. I went to Fry's this am and got the lamp. After caucusing in our Presidential primary, I made the new halocron in the afternoon! I added the computer chip graphic, but discovered washing it out didn't look good.

That looks great!! What kind of figure is that on top? I had toyed (pun intended) with the idea of getting the holographic Obi-Wan figure at WalMart, but yours looks like it's all in one piece.... Mine isn't decorated yet, but I was playing around with the camera this afternoon...

That's a holographic Qui-Gon action figure edit 2/10 and yes, no moving parts, it's all one piece (didn't follow what you meant at first). Nice photo in the robe with holocron! I did some photos this am. public.fotki.com/Kait/star_wars/costumeprops/ and with the still new-ish Parks QV (not edited - it's that bright)

I was going some how to use Colored pelexiglass I got a great deal from work that they was going to throw away.Just getting the time to work with it is another story

Master Kai, those look great! I know they're in your personal gallery -- I hope you'll put them in the TJA prop gallery. That's one of the things I like about costuming, prop-making, set design, and all creative "theatrical" stuff -- the exchange of ideas that makes for a better end product. (Oh dear... I'm waxing philosophical again....) BTW, love the new saber... that blade looks really LONG... I like, I like. And um, confession, on the robe pic... it's really small b/c in the ones that are large enough to see my face, I look like Darth Sidious scowling (!?!) Must practice serious face in front of a mirror....

Ky-Wan, Fry's Electronics is a "big-box" store that sells TVs, appliances, computers, surveillance cameras, movies and music, books, some toys, you-name-it. There are only a couple in Atlanta, so they're not as common as, say, a WalMart or a Target. I've bought a couple of MR Force-FX sabers there and a mini replica Anakin hilt for my desk at work (where I've seen some raised eyebrows... ) and even got my fishing-tackle-box-type tote I use for carrying my costuming kit for makeup, safety pins, etc. I'm over-explaining as usual (it's the accounting curse) but you get the idea about the place... they carry a whole lotta stuff! Toy store for grown-ups... and the prices are pretty good. General Link: [ftp]http://www.outpost.com/[/ftp] Product link is on this thread's previous page, and Fry's is still showing stock. I'm thinking about Solinbeb's idea for diffusing the light and I have a couple of ideas to try. There might be more than one Holocron in the making.... Edit: Look what I found! Great job, Master Kai, on the new tutorial. [ftp]http://public.fotki.com/Kait/star_wars/tutorials/even-easier-jedi-ho/[/ftp]

Ky-Wan, We had 2 in SoCal. Then we moved to Seattle and our closest Fry's was Portland, OR. A few years ago we finally got our own.
Fry's is less a big box store than a computer geek's heaven. They have the washers/dryers and appliances on one side. But on the tech side they have ALL the parts needed to build your own computer from scratch and all kinds of other electronic bits.
Kryy: thanks.
