There are two sites I know of where to get rivets for a Jedi belt. Tandy leather has Sam Brown rivets in silver and brass. But you have to search for them under "Sam Brown". The direct link stopped working.: www.tandyleather.com/searchprods.aspSo does saberebelt. Look under the "custom belts" section: www.saberbelt.com/

Xana, Last week I picked up some of the Tandy rivets for the belt I'm working on. I haven't used them, yet, but they're very good quality. They're not screw-back, like the saberbelt ones, so I had to get an anvil, too. I'm using screw-back rivets everywhere else on my belt.

Ok. Good to know. Leda has an anvil, dremel and all that. So I'm good. ;D But that's good for everyone else to know who may not. Thanks!

I should have added that I am using screw-back rivets for all the other rivets on my belt. I wanted my belt components to be interchangeable, for upgrades, repairs, or just simple changes. So far they've worked out great. The manager at my local (2 hours away ) Tandy said that's all she uses any time she makes anything. She said I could add superglue to the threads to make them less prone to unscrew. I think I'm going to use Loctite, though. I don't want them to be that permanent!

The rivets that Saberbelt has are more movie accurate, they are flat at the bottom, too, whereas the Tandy ones are tapered, and the small belt will not lay flat against the main belt because of this, I know, I used them on my last belt, I put dabs of glue on either side of the rivets to hold the small belt down a little better.
For my next belt will using the rivets from Saberbelt.

My small belt isn't lying flat against the larger one anyway, because of the keepers on either side of the buckle in front. I think Saberbelt sells his in sets of eight, doesn't he? I needed nine and I didn't want to order two sets just to get one more. Tandy sells them individually. I've seen a few things around here that aren't exactly movie accurate, and I think that's OK. Whatever works best for the person wearing the costume, right?

You should just ask him. Far as I know he'd do 9.
Besides his are accurate, I'd say 99% close to the actual ones...whereas Sam Brownes are WAY off, in diameter and shape.
The Sam Browns head is almost double-triple the size of the rivits Saberbelt has.

I had no idea that my using rivets from Tandy would cause such a stir. If it helps, I did order my belt buckle from Saberbelt. I think all of our belts will be fine. You like your belt a certain way, I like mine another, and I'm sure there are dozens of other opinions represented here. I'm not really trying to match any particular belt in the movies and I'm not planning on entering any contests. In my earlier posts I listed my reasons for choosing the rivets that I did, and so far they're working out exactly the way I intended. I've seen a lot of individualism on these boards and it's usually been pretty well received and encouraged, as it should be. After all, we are all imitating fictional characters with fictional gear when it comes down to it.

I agree that the Sam Browne Rivets are a easily found item to use on the belts and they do look good - heck I used them up until I found the screw backs - it is all about personal preference Let me know about that 9 thing - cause now I am curious Dave

Thank you, Dave, The eight are for what you would expect, on either side of the accent belt. The ninth comes in on the back: I'm having velcro sewn to the back of the belt to close it, and the stud will hold the tip of the belt flat against the belt, and add security to the velcro. I put a lot of thought into my belt and this plan is working great. I wear a 2 1/2'' wide leather belt to work every day, with all sorts of weapons, gadgets, etc. hanging from it. Consider me a modern day "guardian of peace and justice" (except I drive a black and white car with blue lights on top, instead of a starfighter) I have for 14 years now. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that I can't stand anything bulky around my spine/kidneys. This approach to the closure is very thin and comfortable. The belt buckle you sent me was fantastic, by the way. I'll vouch for it any day!

Ahh Laan Kro, Policeman? My father was a police men for many years before he went into the army. And yes bulky items at the spine and kidneys are seriously uncomfortable. Being very short torsoed and having a sabre pommel jab the ribs when sitting isn't fun either.

Interesting approach to the belt closure - make sure you take pics and share with us once it is done.
I use a similar closure method on my pouches - it does hold things real well. Although I can't picture a button rivet in the center of my back..........

Not to worry about what's not as accurate as this or that, I also designed a belt that works for me, it's recognisable as a Jedi Belt, but works for me, where it might not work for someone else, but I might try another sometime, theres a few leather supply places near me. I also want a less consticting one for more Arena style tunics than the one I wear with my more Formal robes. Each his own path to follow, yes!
