If you are still looking, maybe I can help, PM me. BTW, my robe is 100% Coat wool, about $22.00 a yard and I needed 8 1/2 yards to make the Robe. The Tunics and such were made from a Cotton cloth that is could possibility pass for raw silk, but it is only $2.00 a yard an Wal-Mart called Onlin (or something like that, I'll have to look at it next time I'm there. I usally buy the whole bolt when I buy it). Just for reference, in building a costume, the total cost of my current Jedi costume, is $560.00, but I’m not real happy with my boots, so that may up it to $720.00 before I’m through. And that is just materials. This much fun is not cheep ;D amen brother! ...and I think the fabric you are talking about at Wal-Mart is Osnaberg...which is what my outer tunic set is made of..... I used a lighterweight "suiting" wool.....just so that it wasn't so hot......I love the flow of the wool...but it doesn't have the "fuzzy" look (for lack of a better word) that the movie version has....but I still love it....

Yeah, I like WalMarts sewing dept. The cost of a Jedi costume can vary from about $50 to $500 just for the fabric. Boots & Belts not withstanding, it really depends on what you choose to make it from. I don't really reccomend that a begginner go right into cutting & sewing from the most expensive fabrics that it can be made from, unless they have an experienced seamer nearby to help with the difficult bits, but, then, I think some of my favourite Jedi costumes have been made from the less expensive fabrics, particularly the Osnaburg (yes$2.00 at WalMart) is actually one of the best fabrics for tunics, Good weave, drape, feel, colour, texture, and very easy to work with, and gets softer with each washing. As for the Robe, well, while the wool is really nice, I can't deal with the warmth, so, I have a nice heavy cotton, but I'm going to do a wool. and am thinking of doing a silk noile, or maybe an osnaberg, after all, several of the Jedi do have natural coloured robes, as opposed to the brown, including Master Yoda. I also have used linen for the tunics and gauze for the undertunics as well as cotton duck, and unbleached muslin in a few different weights, Jedi wear a wide variety of styles & fabrics, and while we want to look canon, we don't wan't to look like we were cut out with cookie cutters, it's not a uniform, but a recognisable look. As to colours, most of the earthtones are good and there are other colours mentioned, though they mry not be accepted as volunteer canon at CIII, if that is something that you are taking into consideration.
