I guess you missed it then I got them in dark brown. They are the most awesome boots ever! Mine have been submerged in water twice and worn non-stop for four weeks in a row and they still look new! Hooray for good quality! Like I said things come and go at this site...they've had those boots four times in the last six months.

*drools* Thanks for the link! Those have got 'Jedi' written all over them! Why are the best things always online? Speaking of boots, last night I had a dream about these georgeous zippered boots that were at Goodwill. They were perfect, too! The only thing is, I woke up before I read the price tag! ARRG! Oh, well. Bit of a costume update: I finally worked on my lightsaber after nearly two months of it sitting out on my dad's workbench, and it's starting to look better. I rough-drilled the hole for the LED box and added a small PVC ring to the outside to make it look a little better. It's not going to be 100% accurate by any stretch of the imagination (unless my fiscal situation changes really quick), but it's still looking pretty cool. My dad says for paint he's seen this new spray paint that's made for PVC. I want to see that stuff! My main problem with the saber has been sanding everything level. I try, but it almost always ends up slanted.

LOL, yeah, right. Wrong fabric, looks awful, yada-yada-yada... In others words, I'm gonna have to start all over again...from scratch. The only thing I have done are the trousers and the belt. I did find a pair of boots that would work nicely...now if only I could scrounge up thirty dollars... As for the hairstyle...I'll need a wig. Argh! Why isn't there someone in the Star Wars universe with thin hair?

WHEE! Finally an update!
I was rummaging around today in my sewing stuff and found just enough to re-do the surcoat! This time I can line the vest part, and the undertunic is already done!
I think if I step on it I can finish it before the parade.

I will!!!
I've already cut out the peices for the 'vest' and the hood; just need to get that skirt part cut out and I'm ready to rumble!

Costume update: I've sewn the 'vest' part and attached the hood, but I've got a snag holding me up... How do you hem a curve? My mom the Sewing Wizard can't help 'cause she's busy with her online classes. HELP!!! EDIT: Oh, yeah...I already asked that.

Depends on how tight a curve. If it's very tight, I'd do it by hand, "easing" the curve, which means that the folded under fabric is going to overlap itself some. Another way is to sew a basting stitch and slightly gather the edge to be turned under.
As a rule, the wider the skirt, the narrower the hem -- and vice versa.
For my street-wear 4 gore (section) skirt, I just fold under the edge twice, press, and sew on the machine.

Thanks for the advice! I managed to hem the skirt and attach it yesterday. It's not perfect, but not bad for someone who's never sewn on a semi-circle before. All I need to do now is cover up those raw edges on the hood and I'm done! With the exception of a few things like the right color boots...and food capsule...and the right buckle fo the belt... But I think I'll be passable enough to march in the parade.

Yay, my costumes' done! I got several compliments on it at the parade and just recently changed out the buckle for the belt. Now I wish I had a camera...

Well, there's a couple pictures of the costume from the parade; aren't very good, though. Me and a friend from IEFF... And of course, me with the camera. I'll get some better pictures up when I get the chance.
