I have a police belt, actually bought it to use with my costume, but it is just way to wide for me...
Darn short-waisted people

Tell me about it. I'm one of those too. Tall, but short waisted. I like hip belts, but oh well. Can't have everything. ;D

Yep, I'm in that shuttle as well. Short waisted. So short the pommel of the lightsabre jabs my ribs. If I sit down it'll move up and slid off the belt charge port and all. Aww man. I've dropped the poor thing a few times cuz I didn't know it'd moved. My belts, I usually have to modify them so they'er slightlyer narrowe then the regular width for Jedi belts. Otherwise they'll poke and jab my ribs.

You should try wearing a police belt every day for 15 years. I have permanent bruises from all the bulky, heavy gear.
My Jedi belt is actually a relief to wear! ;D

you might want to bolt down your covertech clip onto your Jedi belt. then youre saber wont fall off no matter what. unless you press both sides of the clip, the saber stays in place. thats why they started to use the silly things. being a big guy, i dont have a waist. i use a 2 1/2 inch belt. its thick and heavy and doesnt bend when i wear it. i use snaps and a keeper to keep it on. so far this has been good for me. i am building another belt this weekend with parts i got from SABERBELT. this one will be more of a reddish brown, unlike first, chocolate brown one. that way i can wear it with my chocolate brown tunic and you will be able to see it. my boots also have that reddish tint ala obi-wan. my first belt was also the same as his.

Slaps forehead. Bolting the clip to the belt, duh! What a good idea. How do you fasten it to your belt, though. I'd think the plastic clip is too hard and think for a rivet.

Ah, Xana, I didn't mean anything by it. My belt is 2 1/2 inches, too--nice and sturdy. My saber uses the OT D ring assembly. I made a hanger for it using a really good quality nickle plated spring clasp. I just like that look.

actually a flat rivet sounds like a good idea. you would need to drill a hole from the back through the clip part, but not into the area where the button goes. then insert a thin piece of metal or wood to keep from damaging the reciever. bolts might be better, cause you can cut them to fit. however do not put the nut faceing you unless you want to be poked by the bolt end.
i personally like the covertech clips, cause once your saber is in, it aint going anywhere. D rings are sloppy looking and the rings themselves rattle when you duel. just a personal preference i guess.
another way to keep the clip from coming off is to rivet it to a belt keeper. the keeper could ever be made of metal. that way you could move it around from front to side and vice versa.

Mynn, I know Xana's pulling my chain. ;D No worries.
About the "hook and loop;" I have several of the chain links left over, but let's say I had to "appropriate" the part from the police belt. I couldn't exactly use the one from the belt I have to wear every day. I'll see what I can do to "find" another one, K?
Zhidon, you're right, D rings/covertec, it's all personal preference, as is the definition of "sloppy looking."
