I was asked.
"Are you a Monk?"
"Hehe Monks are male. "LOL And was asked another time by a differant person.
"Are you a priest?"
hehe "Nope."
Preists are also males in our culture. Heheh, I wonder what world these folks hailed from? Are Monks and priests males AND females?

While in Jedi (traditional garb I might add)...I have gotten..
"So, what is your costume?" "Are you a monk from Monty Python?"
and In Imperial Officer costume....which is canon to the max...
"So, are you from Star Trek?" "Is that costume from Starship Troopers?" "What is your costume?"
lol.....

I almost forgot about this one ... awhile back I was call by the Chaplin at a local hospital, that a boy going in for surgery was asking to see a Jedi before the event, of course I agreed to do it without a second thought.
Well it so happened that it was the day my boss' new boss was flying in for a face to face with everyone on the team ... since I was not able run home to change after the visit. I met Mr. Smith; yes that is his name, in full robes.
Later my boss told me the Mr. Smith wondered why I was dressed that way, Ron, my boss, said "What way?"
"Like a knight”
Ron said, "I never though of that, he always is dressed that way."
Got to love a boss with that sense of humor"

Yes ... My boss is really good about me doing those type of things ... The kid was thrilled about "Meeting a real Jedi" From what his parents told me, he was more at ease after I left and told him everything was going to be ok and The Force was with him ... Always.
Got to love it ... I really enjoy going and doing that kind of thing ... Trips to the Children’s Hospitals, is always rewarding, to bring a little happiness to there day.

Mon-Jas, That is truly what Jedi should be about. Putting sick children at ease is really a great thing to be doing in Jedi garb & persona.

Just before Ep I came out i visited a radio staion with my friend in costume. We were on our way to another radio station that was having a star wars costume contest to give out a pair of the sneak peak charity tickets. My friend wanted to stop by this other station first since she knew the morning DJ and wanted to surprise him. She was dressed in a costume resembling the OT Obi-Wan and I had the beginnings of my Ep I Obi-Wan. He introduced use as Obi-Wan and Luke. At least is was a Star Wars character. I can see where someone who only has a passing knowlegde of the saga would think that it looked like Luke especially since only a few commercials trailers had been shwon by then. Most of the time people know immediatly that it is a jedi costume. Although I have been called Dork, etc as well, but who hasn't

I enoy going to hosptials visiting kids in garb too.
This past Saterday some 501st friends and i went to a chariety event to raise money to fight Toretes syndrome. I was the only sole Jedi in the group of 2 strom troopers, X wing Pilots, TIE commander pilot, and Emoprer Palpatine ala Orginal trilogy style. AKA Sidious. The kids' eyes ljt up when they saw the Jedi walking in. immediatly they were asking about thed two lightsabers I was carring along.:-) I spent an houe and a half sparring with every kid that wanted too, even let them spar with each other for turns. They were so cooperative. Not one kid fought, or pushed or anything. It was really something when Palpatine sparred with me. I wore the emporer out and that was after I'd sparred with the kids for an hour and a half.;-) Jedi enduarance gotta love it.:-)
This year the 501ast has attended manymore chariety events then they have in the past. :-)

..In my 501st capacity, I am currently organizing a charity event at a toy show that benefits "Treasure Chest"...which is Pediatric Aids....hoping for a great turnout....we have a bunch of costumed people already signed up.....
....and weirdest time I ever wore my Jedi garb...a friend who worked at the local Forest Preserve District where I do a lot of volunteering recently retired....he had seen photos of my Jedi costume but always said he would like to see it in person.... I showed up at his retirement party in full Jedi garb...the rest of the people just looked at me like I was crazy...or made a wrong turn somewhere...but Mike (the guy retiring) loved it.....we took several photos together...

The local SCA groups around here make huge donations to the local Marine Corps. Toys for Tots Program. if you go to some of the bigger events where donations are accepted, and you start to wonder where the tree is. The TFTP gets many toys from the SCAdians every year consistently.
