It seems that most people really don't pay that much attention to jedi pants, opting for a quick fix. I really wanted to do something with the pants that was as special as the rest of the costume is. Does anybody know if a jedi's pants are full length, or are they breeches underneath the boots? I wish I could find a good shot of the pants to replicate. Thanks for any help.

In AOTC Ewan wore your basic Dockers-style khaki pants I know there's a better shot out there somewhere, him sitting on his motorcycle reading a tabloid...

I kind of had it in my head that some jedi trousers might resemble these: www.dresslikeapirate.com/details/swordsman_pants.htmThey wouldn't be as loose, and they seem to be made of heavier material than those shown in the link. I always liked the idea that they were wearing something exotic rather than something plain. Any thoughts? As Always, Crowen Grail P.S. I can't view that image.

well nothing about the jedi are exotic other than the blade of the sabre, the rest is supposed to be plain and humble

The entire Star Wars universe is exotic to me, that's all I meant.
Besides, a pair of those pants, modified, might be practical for a duelist, or a Jedi who would need maximum movement of his/her legs. They are loose around the thigh area and tighen over the shins to hold the trousers firmly in place.
Thank you for your input monkeyjumpgod!

i can deffinatly say that if you made that it would create a pretty cool look, probably would work for a variety, i dont know if it would be cannon though

www.padawansguide.com/obiwan/images/ewan_in_undertunic.jpgThat's the image from above One thing about "real" breeches is that they poof out on the side of the hips. So your tunic may not lay flat. Look at all your old Errol Flynn movies and you'll see shirts are tucked into them. (I have worn breeches for horse showing, and they are comfortable if they fit well.)

Crowen Grail - I don't think people take "quick fix" but they go with what is the closest they can find to the screen used garment, which is Dockers-style khaki pants of an appropriate color. as already mentionned, Jedi are very plain and humble, anything in the exotic style would derogate from the standard Jedi look. I would think that those breeches wouldn't be canon at all. While I am not on the council, I would check with them beforehand if planing a TJA costume with such garment. Jedimom, your pic won't show

I agree with you 100% Olos, but everybody seems stuck on the term exotic. Maybe it was the wrong word to choose. I simply meant that the whole Star Wars universe is so completely different from anything any of us live in (thats why we love it). That is pretty exotic to me. I thought it might be interesting if someone had a different take on pants rather than khaki dockers.
Also, Cor-Al, I've seen knee breeches that do lie flat, the equestrian kind might be different. I'm not an authority on them, however.
Thanks for the input, guys! It seems I won't be submitting anything like these as canon anytime soon, but might try something similar in the future, just for fun.

My concern would be the lacing at the bottom of those swordsman's pants and how they would fit inside a tight and tall boot. However, I guess most pirate costumes include tall boots.
If you look at the trousers worn by Qui-Gon, they are rather tight fitting. In the tall standee I have of Qui-Gon, they look almost like tights.

Qui Gon's pants aren't tights. They'er just regular off the shelf work pants like the khakis but brown. That's the same for all the 'face' jedi too.
They used Dockers and probably D.i.ckie cuz they were easy to find and replace. Regualr dress slacks will work fine too.

yeah, i made mine out of a cotton spandex mix, very little spandex though, just so it has a little stretch. it is a nice bottomweight, and it works great.

I thought it might be interesting if someone had a different take on pants rather than khaki dockers. my whole point is - most people won't take an alternate, more complicated route... the fact is that off-the-shelf khakis IS the screen used pants and it is easy to have... so nothing fancy (anti-Jedi thinking) nothing complicated... There *might* be people with something complicated out here, but I assume most TJA full-members will have off-the-shelves pants, or the home-made equivalent.
