By the force, I've got a dilemma to surmount. I am going to have a seamstress friend of mine make a new tunic set for me - this will include a new inner tunic, outer tunic, set of tabbards and an obi. Standard fare, of course. I'm hoping that I can find some good screen-accurate material and that she can easily modify the lengths to adjust for what I want (like Master Windu's as you can see below). But I'm leaning towards something a little more unique in the way of colors and I would like advice. I already have a brown tunic set and was wondering if other "earth tones" were acceptable for the Assembly. Olive green, Maroon and Grey are the three that I am leaning towards. Actually, my plan is to pay her make two full sets so that I can mix an match as I feel appropriate for the situation. And if anyone was wondering, I did just trace a photo of Mace Windu and put my head on top of him. I'm looking for advice - what do you all think?

Grey most likely wont be acceptable, but the others are fine. Personally, I'm a fan of the standard colour scheme, but I think a good combo would be the top left tunic with the bottom right tabbards/obi. That would look "teh awesome"

I am uncertain about olive green as well... the way I understood earth tones is the differents shades of brown/beige.
Also, keep in mind that if its too dark, it won't be accepted. I'd ask the question directly to the assembly council, they're the ones with THE answers.

Yorrkolash, good drawings by the way. :-) A grey scheme isn't accepable, but the browns, creams, tans, kahkies are great for an outfit for TJA or Rebel Legion membership. The maroon tabbords are fine as a secondary outfit.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to start planning for these two schemes and then I can mix them to create a total of four combos.

This brings up a question for me? Do the tabbords & obi have to be the same material as the outer tunic? I have outer tunics I'm working on 1 is sand crinkle cotton, 1 is cream crinkle cotton & 1 is natural raw silk. Can I mix any of these together for example crinkle cotton with raw silk?

Anakin have leather tabbards, but his tunic isn't leather...

Nope, it doesn't have to be the same material at all. They can be a differant type and colour all together. I just make Obi and tabbords of the same material as spares and to make more to mix and match with.

I think the aim is for effect. Screen accurate costumes are readily recognizable as such.......Jedi don't wear Denim, loud colors (mostly), polyester, etc.
my preference is for color matched Tunic and Obi, color matched Dickie (or undertunic) and pants, tabbards of a complimentary color.
As Always the council has THE definitive word and we'd love to hear it.

I do have a khaki tunic and tabbards w/ obi (as in the greyish olive green khaki, not the tan, it's not a true khaki green, I call it the "yuck" colour, and often threaten to throw it in a brown dye) but I also wear that tunic w/ dark brown tabbards & obi and like it better that way. Any acceptable colour or fabric may be worn with any other in combination. I mix linen, silk, cotton and raime in several of mine. As for the maroon, I'd go for a reddish brown rather than a true red maroon, and some grey is ok, but it should be lighter, it might be better to do that as a spare set of tabbards & obi, it's not ever really likely to be accepted for Canon Event wear, but, that would be up to the entire council, these are just my opinions. By the way, Greetings and Welcome, I think you're new here, or you haven't posted alot.

I, too, prefer all of the same color. Of the two above, I like the one on the left better, but that's just my aesthetic. I don't like tabbards/obi with a great contrast from the tunic. I think it breaks up the body too much. As an alternate costume, I have a dark brown print tabbard and obi (think Jocasta Nu, which costume I also have). However, I wear it with a dark brown overtunic.
Excellent drawings! Nice way to play around with color combos.

The only piece of the costume I would use a stronger colour for is the tabard and the inner tunic, just to give it a bit of a contrast. However I'd still like to keep them in the same colour range. A sandy outer tunic with dark brown tabard and tan inner tunic is as far as I'd 'stray'.
I'd love to use thick cotton like those seen in the movie for my costume, but being in a tropical country I'd have to limit my material to thin-ish pure cotton material. As it is I already sweat buckets in it...

yeah, in the films if there was a variation in the tabbards (Bultar Swan, Anakin etc) then the obi remained the same. Just a thought.
