This was by far one of the easiest parts of my costume. I had read that in The Phantom Menace that Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson's costumes used regular khaki's for the pants.
Since I was going for more of the Qui-Gon look, I got a pair of brown khaki dockers, and they looked perfect. Now I just need to get a good tunic.

At first, I was going to try and make pants for both my husband and I, but when I realized how many measurements there were, I gave up that idea!! I'm not good enough with my sewing machine yet. He has a pair of khaki pants that he's has for years that work really well, so that's what he'll be wearing instead. The color doesn't match the tunic exactly, but oh well! Me, I'm wearing a pair of brown stretch pants that are one size too big, to give that loose, bunched look at the knees. I think I might get some khakis though, since I will be wearing my costume for all three days of C2, and I won't have a place to wash my clothes !

No one said the pants HAD to match the tunic lol.... qui-gon wears dark pants with a light tunic..... and i'm still convinced Yoda doesnt wear pants at all lol... Anakina pants are a little different to. there's no real set standard for a jedi outfit.

Yeah, I know! But the tunic fabric I picked are a light brown/tan color, and his khakis have a greenish color. So they don't really go. But you'll only see like 4 inches of them, so who cares!! And----I'M FINALLY DONE WITH OUR COSTUMES!! HOORAY!!!!!!!!!! ;D

I have no idea. We aren't that far on our website yet. I would e-mail Tanthos with the pics and ask him. Maybe he can ask Matt to post them? Otherwise, you'll just have to e-mail who ever you want with the pics to see them. That's all I can think of.

If you can post the pics on an outside website and just post a link to it. Thats what I'm going to do once my pics are done.

I think I'll try both ways ! I get a free webpage with my ISP, so I'm going to try and post them there. If I can ever get enough energy to do it !! I'll also email Tanthos and see if he can have them posted on the site. Thanks!!

Absolutely!! Once you get a tunic and tall boots...you hardly see any of the pants.
Start out a little at a time. If you have a re-sale shop in your neighborhood..start checking for used boots...all the Jedi have different looking boots. If you or your mom sews, I can send you a trace of a pattern for a tunic.
Log into a site called "Amber's Jedi Meditation Chamber" and she has a lot of information about the tabbards...
Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

hey does anyone think that a pair of regular khaki pants will work for my costume pants? Definitely! That's what they used in EPISODE I, actually. I forgot where I read it, but Liam and Ewan are indeed where plain old khakis! If you're going for a lighter color, try the GAP. They have some flatfront khakis that might work. OLD NAVY might be good, too. I just think pleats might not be that great (even though the pants I use are pleated...my tunic covers the pleats!).

I actually wear brown denim (jeans) with my brown robes, and tan denim (jeans) with my lighter robes. This works really well...
Khaki's work great, as do any comfortable fitting pants. I have some tie-on-pants (Turkish?) that I wear to Renaissance fests...they look okay with Jedi garb...
I would like to make some matching (fabric-wise) pants for my garb, as well as a Hakama. I love the look of a hakama with Jedi garb...
