Our Star Wars costuming groups (501st, RL, the Mercs) were invited to come to the Seattle Pacific Science Center this past weekend to promote the upcoming Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit. It was a crowded weekend as they had a special model train event. There were so many families. I participated on Monday as I had the day off. We could hardly move there were so many people wanting to pose with us. We split up into groups of 3 or 4 costumed members. I was with 2 other Jedi along with a Biker Scout. I brought my large (almost life sized?) plush Yoda. The kids went mad for "him". There were so many shouts of "there's YODA!". Lots of kids accepted my offer to hold him for their photos with us. I will definitely bring him again when we do events like this. I've even figured out how to make him talk. I can hide a tiny speaker in his hood which is connected to my iTouch with the Yoda soundboard. It will be even more fun! Here is Elytra www.thejediassembly.com/members.php?id=50300 . She is also an employee of the PSC so went to get the old planetarium ball (projector?) to pose with as an oversized training remote: The rest of the photos public.fotki.com/Kait/star_wars/science-center-promotion/You can see me with Yoda in the back of the group in the first image.

I am so excited for you!! That was absolutely one of my favorite troops ever....lots of characters, lots of families, lots of posing, lots of "is that a *real* lightsaber?" I had the privilege of trooping 3 days for the opening in Huntsville last June and it was a highlight of the year and my "trooping career", even rivaling C-V. You are going to have a blast. And Yoda will be a BIG hit, especially if he talks!!!

It was an excellent opening weekend at Seattle's Pacific Science Center exhibit of "Star Wars - Where Science meets Imagination". We did three events: Friday afternoon: members only preview Friday night: party for higher level donors Saturday: Opening Day celebration Photos: public.fotki.com/kait/star_wars/pacific-science-cen/I didn't take a lot of photos as I was carrying Yoda and also mostly posing for them! We had a nice group of Jedi on Saturday, including Mark, father and sons from Oregon and Tony (2nd from right) from Denver:

A very nice looking group of Jedi. Sounds like you were very busy, and had a good time.

Hit a small con in Dayton. Gem City Comic Con. 501st was there, but due to a delay in us getting moving this morning, I just missed getting in the group picture and our 6'8" Vader was just getting ready to change into his street clothes when I got there. Not many costumes at all, so we got a lot of attention. Photograoher from Dayton Daily News got us so I hope it makes their website as I touted TJA. Left some fliers on the table too and when I was ready to leave they were almost all gone Also handed out a few tattoos to the Younglings Next on the Troop list: Free Comic Book Day in Lima and then Motor City Comic Con in metro Detroit (hopefully, that one is shaky at the moment)

I hate to admit that I have not worn my Jedi to an event in a while. I wore it to a library event on Saturday and it felt good to be back to my "roots" which is Jedi. I have been wearing a lot of my Rebel Trooper costumes lately, and even wore my Stormtrooper to a wedding that we were asked to do for Make A Wish...and I rarely wear my Stormtrooper. Anyway, in the Chicago area, we have been getting a LOT of requests from libraries to do various SW events... The activities at the libraries varies with each Library we have done....apparently the library associations are passing our contact information along since we have broken records for attendance at several libraries... This library event I also brought along my Artoo unit...he is always a big hit.. here is a photo I took of all the kids with my R2 and called them "Artoo's Army"... more photos: s201.photobucket.com/albums/aa304/schphgochi/Lemont%20Library%206-18-11/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ16
