I'm happy to have my job (for now). On May 26th, 2013 when our union contract ends, we're all supposed to be layed-off. Jobs are hard to find where I live in NY, too.
Good luck with carpet hunting, Leda. I went to Home Depot for my bedroom carpet and got a good deal.

It's going to be close, Carol. In the spring I have to take my entrance exam to get a seat in a nursing program to take the "real" nursing courses. So far, I've been taking prerequisites or nursing credits that can be taken without passing the entrance exam and formally having a seat. Right now I'm calling home improvement contractors to get things fixed to sell my unit next year or have a tennant in my unit to pay for the remainder of my mortgage. I keep calling my mortgage company to refinace, but the refi agent doesn't call me back.
J'aii-Gun! Feel better soon! I have migraines now and then and I don't care for them much, either.

It's that time of year... the change of seasons. One day it's 75 degrees and the next it's 50 Well, we ordered 3 rooms of carpet. I've only done the painting in one of the rooms! I have until the 20th to do the other 2 and they are packed with stuff... crates of crap and big furniture and speaker wires running all around the walls... and my husband's office is a nightmare! Not to mention there's sheet rock repair (big holes to patch) and lots of spackling. I know what I'll be doing for the next 2 weeks!

Ha-ha, I WISH it was that cool here! It's supposed to get down into the 60's later but back up to the 90's over the weekend. Yeesh!
Good luck carpeting, Leda!

Thanks. I can't imagine right now how they are going put new carpet in here in less than 2 weeks! There's no place to put all of this stuff except outside! I hope it doesn't rain on that day. And Oli (hubby) thinks that I can paint around all the speakers and speaker wire he has stapled to the walls??? no way! I have to tape around to get a straight line between the walls and ceiling and I can't do it over wires! He's gonna have to take the whole thing down if he wants a nice paint job.

Good luck with the carpeting and painting, Leda. It's time for me to repaint my home, too. I think this time I need to get a prfessional painted because the layer of paint that was put down when I first moved in is peeling off the underlying layer. Maybe a primer should've been used first? I could use new carpet for my living room/kitchen area, but that's after more important repairs/upgrades are done.

Yeah a good primer/sealer would've helped. If they are dirty or oily to begin with the paint won't cover well.

Man, I feel dusty. Cutting sheet rock and patching holes all day. Tomorrow... sanding. More dust.

Sleepless nights are the worst. That usually happens to me when there's something on my mind that won't shut up.

Wow...so sorry to hear that Cal! It sucks when big business exploits every loophole they can.
