I just bought some leather boots for my costume and hopefully they will last a lifetime because they were pretty steep.

Boots are pretty expensive. If I get even cheap ones I'll be broke.

Yes..... and unfortunately and being broke is one of the traits of being Jedi. ...but that is why you have to chose quality over quanity. If the more expensive is the best and will last you for many years......save up. The point is to look as authentic as possible. I personally have invested over $1200.00 on my Jedi costume, but I know that I will never have to replace any of it and will have many years to wear it. Alot of people have done it for alot less, but I do not have the time nor the means available to make things for myself except for a sewing machine.....I handmade my tunic, but for everything else I searched and bought what I liked........

then there is a couple that I met at Film Con... he had $3000.00 invested in his Darth Vader....and his girlfriend had spent $700.00 for just for the REAL velvet for one of her Padme costumes.... it gets a little scarry!

There are the extremes...I know of people who make Boba Fetts and spend a couple thousand, and I also know of Boba Fetts who have only spent around $300.

Are we dedicated..or what......uh...... maybe a little crazy ....but I think it is worth it when people ask you if you were in the movie and how did they let you have you costume....

yeah(says very humbly) they didn't realize this is my hobby and thought we were hired actors.......we were doing a promotion for a toy store in a mall in our town. I was dressed as Jedi and three others were dressed as Stormtroopers......It was very exciting for them to think we were professional.......

Likewise, I've been asked that many times as well, but as a begginer you don't need to put yourself in the poorhouse either, actually, we're coming into the spring clearance season, when boots are on sale, so keep your eyes on the sales. You can also find boots at outlets, thrift stores and of couirse even the Payless chain actually carries some leather boots, as do MANY of the Army Navy stores, seek and you shall find.

Oh yeah...I was very, very flattered.....because every Jedi goes through the self doubt thing as I do everytime I put on my costume...I think that is one of the deep seeded reasons I haven't gotten my picture submitted yet, because I still don't think I look as good as you guys with pictures do........
And Toba......it isn't how much you spend, it is the time and love you put into it........
I am now starting my Jedi Archive Robes and I will not be spending as much putting this one together. With all the advice I have learned from the Jedi here in the Assembly I know of better places to look for things...
