So, does anyond know what "thuther" means? In E2, while they are chasing Zam, Obi- Wan says, "That was some shortcut, anakin. He went completely thuther way"
sorry- i love ewan, and have to pick on the accent.

My guess would be "thuther" is a slang version of "the other...." as in "went the other way"?
I have a question for all of you.... Went to see AOTC for the 3rd time today...one thing that puzzles me.... Why did Count Dooku tell Obi-Wan that the Senate was under the rule of a Sith Lord? I mean, isn't that supposed to be kind of a secret? What did Dooku hope to gain by telling Obi-Wan the biggest secret in the galaxy? Was Dooku making designs on killing Palpatine/Sidious with Obi-Wan's help? Sith are always 2...one master ....one apprentice...so obviously the master is Palpatine and Dooku the apprentice (taking over where Darth Maul left a vacancy), was the apprentice looking to be the master? Darth Vader (Anakin) never thought of doing that in the later episodes, until the business with the Emperor trying to kill Luke. Any threories?

I've wondered that myself. i think the conclusion that i am finally happy with is this:
Dooku is trying to lure Obi- Wan into a sense trust, so he tells him this to make himself seem very trustworthy. when this doesnt seem to work, he tries the emotional manipulation (bringing up qui gon)
why is he trying to get obi wan? i think we arent told on purpose (d--n suspense, anyways) maybe part of it IS the whole apprentice thing, and i'd connect that to the connection with Qui Gon again...
::sigh:: it's very perplexing indeed!!

Lutma is right, I think. Dooku is trying to get another Jedi on his side. Can you imagine if a Jedi as powerful as Obi-Wan joined the separatist movement? Not that he would, of course, but that is what he wanted. However, that DOES now expose Palpatine-- sort of. Not that it matters all that much since Jar Jar got him voted emergency powers......... Now lets see, Satan used 3 temptations on Jesus and Vader used 3 on Luke. Did Dooku use 3 on Obi-Wan? One was a 'family' tie: Qui-Gon, one was a 'defeat evil/ the Sith' lure, .........dang, I forgot the third one! Was there a third one? The next time I see this movie I will have to take notes! lol!

I think that Dooku told Obi-Wan because he knew that the Jedi would not believe that a Sith Lord could actually control the council. So it's kind of a misdirection....he can tell the truth because the truth is so implausible it will look like a lie. And because no one will believe it, they will not link Sideous with Palpatine until it is too late. It's really a perfect way for Sideous to keep his identity a secret!

If Dooku assumed that Obi-Wan wouldn't believe him, then why tell him in the first place?
This and the Sifo Dias (Dyas...whichever) thing probably puzzles me the most.

Well, the Sifo Dyas thing we probably won't find out until EpIII............. I hope!
"If Dooku assumed that Obi-Wan wouldn't believe him, then why tell him in the first place?"
Um........ I don't know. Probably to manipulate him into joining him to destroy the Sith. As for Palpatine........... it's rather brilliant! He's hidding in the brightest light!

The temptation of Obi-Wan Kenobi is very similar to what Vader does to Luke in Empire. This might be THE BIG SECRET, as in ESB.
Obi-Wan knows Count Dooku to have been a very powerful Jedi. He also no doubt knows of the relationship between Dooku and Qui-Gon Jinn. Dooku in turn knows of Obi-Wan as Qui-Gon's apprentice.
Qui-Gon was renowned for his defiance of the Jedi Council, and for his adherance to the "Living Force", and not the more widely accepted "Seeing Force". Perhaps this was an influence of Dooku upon Qui-Gon? However, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and most others adhere to the Seeing Force. Perhaps Dooku thought otherwise, and thought Obi-Wan might join him?
Why? The Sith chain of succession is that there are only two. It seems that Dooku is searching for a suitable apprentice. One that will help him destroy his Master, so that Count Dooku can take his place as Dark Lord of the Sith, with Obi-Wan Kenobi as his apprentice.
This is similar to Return Of The Jedi AND The Empire Strikes Back. Darth Vader DOES indeed plan on destroying Palpatine and taking his place, with Luke as his apprentice.
Yoda and Mace's take on this is that Count Dooku is trying to create mistrust. This might be intentional, as the place of the Jedi in the Republic falls in EPISODE III. An attempt to cloud their vision in the force might be carefully calculated.
It seems to be totally thematic. I see the recurring themes more and more. It's pretty cool if you think about it.

::This and the Sifo Dias (Dyas...whichever) thing probably puzzles me the most. ::
my theory on this one:
the Kaminoians, who are obviously out of the "loop" (they didnt know that he had died) were contacted by a man, most likely by transmission only, who identified himself as Sifo Dyas, and since they have no way to know otherwise this "master" could have been anyone. Sidious or Tyrranus/ Dooku ordered the clone army for the senate, using the name of a jedi master to do so to make the order look more legit. so i'd say either
A. Sifo Dyas had already died before the order was placed.
or
B. The sith placed the order, Sifo Dyas caught wind of it, went to investigate and was killed by the sith.
just my meager theories!!

Okay Nick, I'm confused-- what's the big secret? That Qui-Gon had turned to the Dark side or was influenced by Dooku? I took that as Dooku just tempting Obi-Wan using Qui-Gon as a lure. I'm confused.
Another thing that has always bugged me is what was it that Qui-Gon did to defy the Council, that kept him off the Council. Obi-Wan mentions this in Ep I. Any theories?

Getting back to thuther...I went to see AOTC AGAIN (4th time) yesterday...Ewan says "the other"... Also...in the conversation with Dooku and Obi-Wan, Dooku definitly tells Obi-Wan that together, they can wipe the Sith from the galaxy......

Xana, I think he didn't so much defy the council as be a total Maverick, plus if you read the Jedi Apprentice novels, he had a serious love interest in another Jedi Master, we know that this would be frowned on, they planned to marry, but she was killed. It seems to me that it was not 1 large instance of defiance, but lots of small things, plus he apparently took up w/ all sorts of characters, some of them sorta unsavoury types. seeing Obi Wan w/ Dexter Jettster kinda made me laugh, cos every time Qui Gonn took up w/ a character of that type he'd get all put out, and there he was....
