Most of you have seen the Deluxe Adult/Child Jedi Robe that Rubies (think it's Rubies...) has on the market since AOTC. I'm approx. 5' tall, and average waist for someone 13. Would I be better off with the Adult or Child Robe?
P.S.: I want something that drags on the ground about three inches behind me, like Mace.

Have you actually seen the Rubies deluxe robe? I bought one, and I thought it was awful. The fabric is bad, the hood is tiny, and they didn't even bother hemming the edges, they just stitched around them.
Not sure how big the child size is, but I'm 5'8 and the adult size fits me, doesn't drag on the floor al all.
I'd say get the big one and hem it... actually, I'd say don't get it at all unless you're desperate.

I have not seen them....but what Leda says sounds practial...the Jedi seemed to have HUGE robes...better to go bigger than smaller...

Leda, could you describe the fabric to me?

I can not sew, so instead of sewing a robe I bought one at www.mystikmerchant.com/ it maybe to pricey for some but if you can afford it I suggest picking one up. I completely love my robe and it flows like it should. The are custom made and shipps really quick.

Currently the deluxe robe is a nubby brown knit, if finished it's just barely OK, but you will need the adult one, I worked at Rubies as a designer on that line, I think they improved them a little for Ep II, If price is a factor, they are cheaper than alot of stuff, but it might be better to save a bit longer & get a better robe, that will wear better & longer.

Nova... I think they got worse. I'll have to show them both to you the next time I see you. I had heard that they were better, so that's why I bought one, but Rubies deluxe from EpI has a bigger hood, but shorter sleeves and the fabric is better, looks more natural, I think. You can see the weave. The only way I can describe the fabric of the Deluxe EPII robe is that it's polyester... like a pair of cheap brown trousers or something... good thing is, you couldn't wrinkle it if you tried!

I can second the mystikmerchant plug. I got my robe from them and they do very very nice work and I couldn't be more pleased with it. They usually ship in less than a week too, so that's always a plus. I think I got mine 5 days from when I sent them my measurements.

I've never seen one in the flesh, but I think they look really good in the pics. If I couldn't sew, I'd buy one from them. In the long run, they aren't that much more than a Rubie's.
Leda, it is possible that we are both right with Rubie's, if they are out of the proper fabric, they will use what is on hand, and if the person that oversees the order puts the wrong style# in the flypen, than that's the pattern that they get that day, most of them wouldn't notice the difference, so, sometimes you get one & some the other, Pretty much every batch cut can be slightly different, and then the seamstresses might take off a bit more or less on the serger. But I agree, the hood is way to small & the sweep is not there.

Rubie's=bad. I have never sewn a robe and even I would make one before buying a Rubie's robe

The robe that I have on in my Jedi Assembly picture is from Clicket.com. www.clicket.com/episode1/costumes.asp?group=dlxadultI'm 5'3" and the robe drags on the floor approximately an inch. It's lightweight and you definitely don't have to worry about it wrinkling either. It has a pretty large hood but because the material is so flimsy (not sure what it's made of), it basically falls around your face when you put the hood up. All and all it's really not a bad robe. However, I'm in the process of looking for material to make a second one because I want a fuller robe that "flows" more like the ones in the films.

Yup... they totally sent me the wrong robe... Nova has confirmed it! It's not the EpII deluxe I have. But it's still awful... sewn/cut crooked and everything. And it cost 55 dollars! Oh well... maybe I'll modify it and make it into something else. Like a Ki Adi looking thing.
