Expanded Universe.
It includes all of the novels, young adult series books, comics, video games, lines of action figures, etc...
Did I miss anything?

Extended Universe, anything that is not from the films. All the books, (Clone Wars novels are near canon, but not quite) that aren't direct novelisations of the films, so all the graphic novels, comics, novels that are post or pre EPs I-III or IV-VI are called EU for short, Video games are EU except movie tie ins. We like them, but they are not canon and sometimes don't count toward the story, unless GL says so. When we do public appearances for promos, like Mid Nite toy madness, they may request canon only, so say a Jedi healer in Blue would not be canon or acceptable for that appearance. But it is acceptable for membership with the corrcet documentation from a book or comic or other EU source. Fun huh! Read the rules in the code, you'll see what I mean. Gotta Go, closing time.

Just a quick comment...Adi Gallia only had red in Jedi Power Battles, the action figure and comic books. One can assume she would have had a blue/green in AOTC if she was in it. Ki-Adi, Plo Koon and other such Jedi who had other colours in these mediums also had blue/green in AOTC. So in that ammendment about Adi...not to sure if I agree Jedi Primrodo brings up a very interesting and valid point. One Plo Koon action figure had a yellow-bladed lightsaber, Saesee Tiin had a dark purple one. However, in the movies no jedi ever carried a red-bladed lightsaber. Therefore, I feel it is only natural to conclude that red-bladed lightsabers are only carried by the sith.

hey guys, newsflash------the yellow lightsaber has long since been banned by the jedi order/councel for thousands of years. the yellow saber is known as the penari lightsaber which has the ability to cut through other light sabers. While the dark side of the Force created many great warriors, the light side of the Force did as well. 2,000 years before The Phantom Menace, the most formidable light saber fighter before Yoda lived, the amazing Yendar Platis. Yendar Platis had six arms and could use six light sabers at a time. Another fascinating Jedi was the renowned Jedi scientist Crutus Penari. Penari succeeded in creating a yellow-bladed light saber, which could actually slice through any other light saber. This light saber was called the Penari light saber. The Jedi Council considered the light saber too dangerous and it was destroyed with its blueprints. This information that you have provided is very, very interesting! Thank you for relaying this.

drkjedi, I see from the quote that you seem to have been taken in by SuperShadow as I once was. Go to theforce.net and run a search on "Supershadow" or "Mickey Suttle"... see what you come up with.

Back during the Filming of AotC, there was an interview with GL. Sam Jackson asked GL 'Who do I talk to about my Lightsabre color?'. GL said 'The Good Guys had Green or Blue and the Bad Guys had Red. That's the way it is.' SJ asked 'What about Purple?' to which GL said, 'That could be arranged.'
I don't follow the EU very much, but I go by that interview as far as Lightsabre colors go.
For what it is worth, here is the link to the interview.
starwars.com/episode-ii/bts/me2/10.html The word, according to George!

Another interpretation---
blue=unifying Force green=living Force purple=Mace Windu, or the fighting style he developed called Vapaad (in the novel Shatterpoint). When fighting with Vapaad, the fighter uses his emotions, and that comes very close to using the dark side. This theory works for purple because red+blue=purple.
Orange, yellow, I'm not sure... there are some theories back a few pages in this thread about them but I'm not sure how valid the sources are.
And silver... Corran Horn had a silver blade. It was in the book "I Jedi".

In the EU It was explained that The Jedi Traditionally only used the Crystals from Illum, that created the blue or green green blades hence George's statement about good guys using blue and green etc. This goes along with George's use of history and mythology. Japanese sword smiths would only use certain grades of Iron, from certain mines, in there swords because of the "spirits' in the steel. But in the EU both Pre and Post Eps 1-6, this tradition is not in place, and even great master such as Mace Windu did not always follow tradition.

Corran Horn's Silver blade got its color from the stone called Durindfire, used as an energy lens along with the crystal.
From "I Jedi", pg 481 (paperback).

True and as that book showed any cyrstal could be used in a light saber. The Crystals of Illum were used traditionally because they were already attuned and filled with the Force.

I did notice while re-watching the Clone Wars series 2 episodes that there were blue, green and purple/violet gems in the temple at Ilum.

I found out what the colors stand for. Here is a paragraph about it. The color of a lightsaber's blade depends on the crystals used to focus it. Blue-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Guardians; green-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Consulars; yellow-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Sentinels
