For Jedi robes
"Coffee Bean" color (a medium brown) 100% wool melton, medium weight @ $9.95/yd (remember the 3 extra inches per yard, as mentioned above). Medium wt melton will still be rather heavy for a Jedi robe. Consider this if you live in a cold climate and want a robe for outdoors in winter.

And even though it says "dry clean" you CAN wash it. I washed mine.
I have a "street wear" version of a Jedi robe I wear as a winter coat. It is made of heavy melton. Keeps me very warm and dry (Seattle = rain in winter) but is rather heavy and it doesn't even have as much fabric as a "real" Jedi robe.
Lining fabric: for those of you who line things, rayon is a better choice than poly lining as it will breath better (rayon is the better synthetic fabric as it is made from cellulose rather than petroleum products). Rather more expensive than poly, though, at $6.95/yd
