From the pictures i've seen all the costumes look good. I've gotten a lot of compliments on my anakin outfit. I have trouble witht he tabords to lol. Velcro just doesnt work lol. I have a few years to get it just right in time for C3. we're all going to be there right? right? Don't tell me it's just going to be Me, Lutma, Shoshana, Solorad, Nic, and Schph again. Not that we saw uch fo Schph and Nic. You two were off having your own little fun. Sure forget about your Jedi buddies... we understand...

Now that I've finished what I started, I have to do more... I saw an idea on theforce.net boards that I'd like to try...a long flowing skirt type thing, with high slits up the sides. It would go over the pants and boots I already have; I thought it might look suitably female, different, and stil recognizable as Jedi-ish. What do you think?

I have all the Jedi action figures on my desk at work now...including Shaak Ti and Luminara...and if you look at them...long and flowing skirts work....both of them seem to have a modified sash/tabbard thingy that goes right down the front to the floor....Looks like the three things that are absolutely essential about Jedi costumes are: 1: Robe 2: Boots 3: Lightsaber
I had been kinda thinking along the same lines for yet another costume variation, still using the brown robe and boots. .....gotta have a couple spare looks for ......
Celebration III!!!

The more I looked at the figures on my desk, the more I realized how very different all of the Jedi really are!!
Kit Fisto and Obi-Wan have the shortest tunics. Qui-Gon's was a little longer - Plo Koon's was that same length - and Mace's was longer still. Saesee Tiin's goes to the floor! Adi Gallia wears no inner-tunic Luminara's "tabbard" matches her boots.... Shaak Ti's robe is shorter than her "dress"
All of them have a robe except Ki-Adi-Mundi....he has a robe, but it has no sleeves.
....I think it is official.....you can get away with just about anything as long as you have boots, a lightsaber, and a robe of some sort....
If you have the action figures....line them up...it is really interesting to compare....and the figures seem fairly accurate...they even show the tabbards on Obi-Wan stopping at the sash in the back and Qui-Gon's hanging down the same distance in the back as the front.. I confirmed the Adi Gallia "no inner tunic" look of the figure to the Visual Dictionary...and that is right on the money too...... interesting.....

My 2 cents: I am most likely skipping the tabard and sash. I hate anything around my waist and I don't need the extra padding of the tabbard. Plus it looks too masculine for my taste. So far I am wearing grey leggings as pants, and doing an Obi-Wan inner tunic and a Mace Windu outer tunic.

I thought it might be fun to do a skirted one, sort of like Jocasta Nu, she is also a Jedi, perhaps I'll do it for a formal meeting, or CIII. It seems to me that she's got on a crinoline slip or a single hoop slip under it, see the way the skirt hem stands away from the body. I like Eeth Koth's tunic, almost knee length, but w/2 slits over the front of the legs.

As to the tabards, well I did mine in a slightly modified pattern, it is joined in the back, it starts to split at the waist, curves at the shoulder, is attractive & STAYS PUT!

My tabbards were unattached anywhere and kinda stayed put...as long as you keep adjusting them...in a lightsaber battle they would be all over the place. Since I have the Qui-Gon style of tabbard that hang down the same distance below the sash in the back and front I didn't want to attach them at the sash....then I thought they would pull the sash all over the place. I drew out the sash intructions as proposed on Amber's Jedi Meditation Chamber and though it looked easy at first...I don't think it will be. Just gotta keep working on some of the stuff before Celebration III!

Hey Schph! Like I promised a few weeks ago, but didn't do , I posted a new thread on how I made my tabbard and obi (sash) using Amber's site. Hope it helps!

A few things on tabards, on the 12" figures this is how they are done, Obi Wan's is sticthed in the back to his tunic where the sash covers it at the waist, it doesn't hang below in back, only in front. Mace has a sticth in front & back to keep the edges from separating, again they are hidden by the sash. Anakin's, like Mace. Wish I knew how to draw this stuff out and send it to you. Qui Gon's was sticthed in back at the waist but not the front. Except Obi Wan's, none are attached to the tunic. In EpII it looks as if they used a fairly crinkled gauze for the under tunic, but in the Arena, Obi Wan's sleeves look like the are a knit, they cling very close to the arm.

My tabards are really slippery, and I wasn't confident enough to sew them onto the sash, so I use handy safety pins whenever I wear my costume... It seems to work. For the sash, I basically sewed a rectangle of fabric, and attach it at an angle with a square of Velcro. Not as neat as I would've liked, but the best I could do. Maybe later on I'll change it. ~Ryss ;D

Safety Pins are a good thing! Unless they pop open, then a big ouchen. My sash closes with velcro too, I took two 2" wide strips (the scratchy side w/the hooks)about 6" long and stiched them horizontally on the sash, then I took four 2" wide strips of velcro (soft side w/loops) and stiched them vertically on the other side of the sash, this gives maximum hold and adjustability.

I gotta admit...I am just all over the place with indecision on the tabbards and sash!! I will check out the thread posted on the Amber's Meditation Chamber sash posted by Shoshana. I finished the tunic for the Mace costume for the fan film and now have to make some kind of decision on the sash/tabbards and am running out of time....it has to be completed by Saturday. For the film and since it is Mace, the tabbards will not be able to go past the sash in the back.....I think it will be a Velcro thing! I have to e-mail the actor playing the part and get one last measurement from him though.
I am still all over the place on fabric....I may ask you another favor Nova.... If you have some left over scraps of material from either your costume or what you sewed for the client, could I have some of the scraps? Since I don't know a whole heck of a lot about fabric...maybe I could take a scrap with me and compare it with what is there or ask a clerk. I think that I have to find a bigger fabric store though. I went to JoAnn Fabrics and the available fabric selection was a little thin!

Not sure that a scrap will get to you on time but will send them, ask for Linen, should be on sale right now, or Cotten Duck or LT Wt. Cotten Canvas, or Cotton Poplin, I favor the linen a lot, but the cotton canvas, or duck are sturdier and will take more abuse and last longer, they will also be more stable if you are hand stiching.
