Right, so I'm looking at the Simplicity pattern for the Jedi costume, and I decided I didn't like it at all. That said, I'm still going to use it for part of the costume, mainly the robe and the obi and shoulder thingies....pads? Sashes? Terms, anyone? But I like the idea of having a tunic and an undertunic....so I was thinking of just making a robe style shirt in two different thicknesses and sleeve sizes, one in tan and one in beige. Is that acceptable? I'll probably have to MAKE my pants because I'm...ah...large sized, and what they make in size eight does NOT come in size sixteen+.
Anyone know a good generic store to buy boots? I can't do Ebay or paypal, I have to work strictly in cash or money order, if I'm going to buy something off the internet. (Credit cards = world of pain!)

Generic place to buy boots depends on where you're located. How much selection to you have in your area? Start with thrift stores; it's a long shot that you'll find anything right away, but the prices are generally good. And even if you can't buy on e-bay you can still shop and get a feel for what's out there. It's possible that an e-bay seller is local to you. All the major department stores have web pages so you can see what they have.
New styles of boots generally come out in the fall and run through winter, so now is a good time to look, but I wouldn't wait long.

You can also order from a catalogue or call and order over the phone, they'll hold the order for a MO payment to arrive. Right now is a good time to look, all the end of season sales are on. If you are a woman and need a wide calf, try Roamans or Lane Bryants web sites
