I usually flatline the top 1/2 of my tunics for durabilaty, or colour saturation, even if I don't line the lower 1/2 and sleeves, that usually would depend on the weight of the fabric I use, and the colour combination of the tunic & undertunic.

How come you dont like lining your tunics Ani? Because it's more work to sew! I just get fabric with a nice texture and that is opaque enough not to need a lining.
Wow, looking at Primrodo's picture again...you can really see the darker color on the undertunic through the outer tunic fabric. It has a nice texture and look, but the weave is so loose that it needs to be lined because you can see through it. The part that shows on the picture is likely covered up by the tabard anyway. But the upper body of the tunic isn't lined there. I'll guess that it's not lined there to keep the costume from being too warm to wear.
