That is sooo weak ;D I can't believe that they'd actually make a fake shirt like that. I mean, the inner tunics wouldn't be that hot ;D It is a costume after all.

my undertunic is a sleeveless half-shirt made of gauze, with fake sleeves that go up to my elbow. With the tunic on, you can't tell, but I'm more comfortable all day at a con. I can't stand that extra layer around my waist.

I just use light fabric for my undertunics and double it up around the sleeves and collar. Those are the only parts that show anyway. Half shirts never stay straight on me; I always seem to need something to tuck into my pants to keep it straight. That said....under the obi, and all those layers, is ALWAYS the warmest part of my costume, even in air conditioning. Not uncomfortably so, but noticeable The only time that didn't happen is when I was out in the cold in Indianapolis at CIII.
One other thing about the undertunic....I always have to be careful about making sure that the collar part is high enough to show under the tunic itself. I'm always having to adjust upward when sewing.

This last con I was freezing in civies, but when I put my jedi gear on, I was fine. It was good to go to a hotel that was actually COLD instead of too hot.:-D Infact at the new hotel for Necro, I was cold enough I needed hot tea/coffee eventhough I was in my Jedi garments.

Aaaah, how did Necronomicon go? I went to one, ages ago, because I knew some people going and could get a ride. It was fun.

I agree, I wear suspenders on my pants and they work great ...my runics are raw silk, though my outer tunic is satin lined........I still sweat. Hence I'm getting another set for 'dress' purposes and my current set for the down and dirty times lol.

Ok, here's what I think. I think that the white thing is a stunt-rigging vest over an undertunic (whole shirt of the brown fabric) it looks like a far heavier fabric, like a canvas, there appears to be a gadget pouch thing on the front of it as well. it's not clear enough to see if there are seams, but I think it looks like a layer that has sleeves and front part showing, and is more likely made out of or covered in the fabric of the over-tunic to keep it from showing at the neck during movement. I do see the suspenders.

Well Justin has a pic of the FIDM costume exhibit and you can see that it is actually a faux undertunic. The material is lighter than the undertunic and it is sewn together, not layered ontop of an actual undetrunic.
I had the pic but it got lost in a computer re-format...

That second pic may have just given the answer... perhaps the rest of the undertunic is white so that you cant see the brown through the fabric?? It appears that the outer tunic is not lined at the chest like in the sleeves...

Yeah strangely enough there...though I still prefer fully lined Looking a few pics it looks like they either took an older tunic or made new white inner tunics for bi-Wan and sewed these over. If you look at teh pic Leda posted you can see the flap is there even for the white part.

It appears that the outer tunic is not lined at the chest like in the sleeves... Good call, Seda... like wearing black undies with sheer white pants... no good! It also looks like the lighter part of the inner tunic is a light beige, to match the outer tunic, perhaps. You can see the contrast of the suspenders against it in the pic I posted. And I know what you mean Primrodo, about the lining... the upper part of my tunic is lined with the same fabric it's made from. Only the bottom half and the sleeves are lined with silk.

That's how my brown undertunic was before I knew Obi Wan's was like that, but it was an accident. I'd ran out fo fabric. Opps.

Wow! That second picture really tells the whole story. Now the only mystery is why they made it like that.
But I'm still not going to line my tunics.
