my orignal tabbards were too thin and were the same color as my tunic so i decided to make some new ones, i added 5 lines of dark brown to each of them

That's interesting. The lines are stitching? At first I thought it looked liked you'd pieced them together, which would really have been a lot of work!

I sew my tabards together at one little point at the edges where they would meet under the belt, so the sewing doesn't show. It keeps them in line very well and makes them easier to put on and keep even.

Does it pull under the arms? That's the most common trouble area; the sleeves or the body of the tunic might be too narrow if that's the case. In fact, the body of the tunic being too narrow always seemed to be the problem if I got it wrong. Adding an extra panel under the sleeves seemed to be the only way to fix it, short of remaking the whole tunic.
Also, did you attach the tabards and obi to the tunic? They might be the source of the pull if you did.
