Thank you for all the continuing replies, and encouragement about my costume. I have decided that I am indeed gong to make the costume for myself (although my intention in making it was to be able to join the Assembly) and submit it. If it is not accepted, then so be it, I shall simply have to become one of the Lost 20
I really like Tenric's suggestion of having a tiered membership.
Seeing as there is already the stipulation in the code that only screen accurate costumes can be used for official purposes rather than EU costumes (although those EU costumes would still have had to pass the Council's approval) there already is an existing division, but it is in such a subtle way that people may not even be aware of it. Another forum I post on also has a tiered membership, in that there are:
Models (posts have pink background)
Staff (Posts have green background)
Everyone else (who has grey backgrounds)
However... There are also the Old Skool members (of which I am one) who still get the grey backgrounds, but it simply says on the posting section, This Member is Old Skool, rather than Joined:Dec 2004.
This site is clearly in a state of rework, it wouldn't be hard to include such an option on the membership form, where a person could say which catagory they are applying for, and then on their profile, there could be a section saying which catagory they are in (obviously following the Council's approval or recatagorization) I think this would be much easier to do now, while the site is being redesigned, rather than say in six months when it has been up and running for a while... It would also allow for more people to be accepted, and maintain their interest in the Assembly rather than being rejected and possibly losing interest in not only the community, but costuming too...
As Tenric suggested, I think the catagories should be:
Cannon
non-cannon original
EU specific
Of course, only the cannon costumes would be able to attend certain events, but that's how things are now anyway, so I can't see it causing any issues that don't already exist...
Also, I still suggest that all the time there is a 'grandfather' clause, and existing members are given 6 months to ammend their costumes if need be, I think that new applicants with costumes over 80% compliant should be given provisional memberships, and 6 months to ammend their costumes to full compliance.
