Does anyone have an idea of what type of fabric Obi-wan and Anakin use in the episode 3 tunic? It's completely different than the earlier prequels. I'm rather boggled here and can't find anything that looks like it.

My guess is maybe a cotton knit? But I won't feel good about a guess on the undertunic fabric until I see more pictures or the DVD comes out.

Ah, never mind about my first answer, I was thinking of the undertunic. The closest stuff I can think of is crinkle cotton. I found some recently on the $1/yd table at Wal-Mart, but that was luck. The label said "100% crinkle cotton from India".
It has a very similar crinkle texture to the tunics, but the tunics look like a coarser weave, like a knit. At least Obi-Wan's is. Both tunics look a little woolly. But the weave on Anakin's doesn't look that coarse. I'm pretty sure that Obi-Wan's tunic was made from the same stuff in AOTC.

No, sadly thats not how it works with fabric. What will save though is shipping since it will be coming from China

Maye Obi's is heavier simply cuz it's gota survive that insane shooting schedule and stunts. Ibet he's ripped throuhg a few under and over tunics. :-D Be great weight for some of the cold areas on the planet but in Florida.<gasp> Na uh, I'd faint. Even in the a/c on the set, I bet the poor guy sweats like mad though.
I use the crinkle cotton for my under tunic, and am making an over tunic of a differant shade of crinkle cotton but it'll be lined with some awesome silk type fabric I'd scored last week at Wla-mart's $1 yard table. Lately I'd been finding various shades of crinkle cotton from india there too, same price.

That's strange I've looked through Wal-Mart the few days and never found crinkle cotton. (Though I never really looked for crinkle cotton... I never saw anything that looks like it.) I even went to Jo-Ann's... nothing there. You would think here in the mid-west you'll find some great fabric but it's the very opposite. Lol!!
