If you can sew, that's probably the cheapest :: cough :: way to make your own. Many of us never sewed before until we started costuming. You can always piece it together bit by bit but unless you're very lucky it's all going to cost in the end. Even sewing isn't cheap. It takes a LOT of material to make a robe! But sewing is the best way to make sure you get what YOU want. A few of us have many different versions and we're still perfecting.
Welcome, and be sure to ask any questions you may have

I would sew for sure if you have a sewing machine; easy to learn and fast, as well as easy to correct mistakes.
If you are hand sewing however, it is a different story! You have to have true Jedi patience to hand sew a costume... I just finished hand sewing the arms and cuff hems for my outer tunic (big sleeves) and I had to sit down and meditate halfway through just to keep my brain from going nuts!

I'm not sure how it would work out price-wise compared with making your own costume, but I bought the basics of my costume from an online martial arts store, I then had my mum make me the leather tabards and fabric waist band. Good luck with your project

Greetings Qua Sek, Sewing a Jedi costume is a very basic sewing project, The tunic & tabbards with a cloth obi & an under tunic are really easy to sew, if you have a sewing machine in the house, it might even be a project that you and your Mom or another relative who sews can do together, (older relatives who sew usually like to teach the younger ones!) Fabrics for the Jedi tunics can be relatively inexpensive types, natural undyed, unbleached cotton or a heavier weight of muslin are good to use and are not usually expensive. Linen is also good, but might cost a little more. As for pants, tan or brown docker type pants are fine, that's actually what they use in the film. Try finding a pair of brown boots that will work in your local charity thrift store or watch for sales at the end of a season. As for the robe, well, it's easy to sew, but takes a fair amount of fabric, depending on your size & height, but given your age, anything you make, I'd say make it with lots of hem allowance, you're likely to get a bit taller soon, and that will save remaking everything.

and......if you begin to try to learn about sewing by maybe getting a book from the library....you might convince your folks that you are serious....
I had never sewn anything before my first Jedi costume either...and I have found that learning to sew...even a little....is helpful for so many other things besides costumes....
The more one is able to do for themselves...the better... I am now learning leatherworking...and find it fascinating....
