I was unfortunately let down on my Jedi costume that was being made for me by a friend so have decided to take a big step and do it myself. However I am a total novice when it comes to sewing and after looking at all the different advice on the boards am feeling a bit overawed. Can any one give me (or point me towards) some really basic lesson on making the outfit. All help gratefully appreciated

Fear not! Sewing Jedi is a basic sewing project. Take your time, you'll be fine. It's the 1st thing that many members have sewn, and they have done some very great jobs!

I learned how to sew last Halloween - nobody had the Pirate costume I wanted, so I decided to make it myself. I just jumped in & learned. Trust me - it's not as hard as it looks! It's a little overwhelming at first (for me, at least), what with the patterns, the fabrics, and the strange mechanical sewing machine thingy - but it gets easier & easier. You'll be doing it in no time!! My main advice - read the instruction manual for the sewing machine. The patterns (if you're using them) are usually self-explanatory (for the most part). But that big chunk of machinery nearly gave me a nervous breakdown. To put it simply, sew, or sew not; there is no try!

LOL, very clever but it is the truth, sewing machines can be intimidating at first, but it is easy once you get the hang of it.
