The side that's tucked in, does that go straight down or is it pretty much like the side that's showing?

I've used your tunic design justin and the folks really like it. :-D Some of them are looking at how nice the tunic looks and want to wear it as a regualr shirt. :-D I've done some minor modificaitions for it to suit various body shapes better.

It's all finally done after years of fabric hunting. and patient construction. The over tunic was a challenge to line, but I did it.:-D Yippie.:-)

I used to sew by hand as well....but graduated to a machine..
My undertunics are made from the original "Space Nomads" McCalls pattern that came out in 1999 when Phantom Menace was released.
It works out great...the pattern was smaller in most places that the Jedi tunics are large...so it works well as an under instead of an outer tunic. I also made the arms REALLY long and tight so that they can be "bunched up" at the wrist...the effect is really nice.......I did 2 of them....in crinkle gauze...and cut them short to avoid some of the "heat" of another full length tunic....you can't see it anyway...

That sounds cool Schoh, Have you a picture of the front, side and back of your under tunic with the tail tucked in and hanging out?

I'm just finishing an undertunic from a 2 yd piece of crinkle cotton I got off the $1/yd table at Wal-Mart. It's a bit of an experiment. How well does the straight-line shirt pattern work for an undertunic? It's just the simple tunic pattern with long, narrow sleeves at the wrist, a higher collar and a shorter hem.
My conclusion? It works OK and it will look fine with my cotumes. But I think I'll look for a pattern with fitted, rounded edge sleeves at the shoulders, darts and a wrap over front that I can modify. Sure it's easy to sew, but a fitted shirt pattern will have less material under the regular tunic and the collar will fit better as well.

I finally got around to making the Nepali blouse. While it doesn't look like a jedi tunic, I think it is OK for an undertunic. It's a bit fussy to sew as it has underarm gussets but I like it alright.

Aha, Folkwear!

Yes, that one would look fine as an undertunic. Thought you'd have to make the sleeves longer, but that's a trivial change.
