On the Jedi obis, there is no place where it is tied. I don't get it. A regular obi sort of ties, if you know what I mean.

Greetings, Jaren, There are a lot of ways to fasten a costume obi. Many of us attach them in the back or on the side with Velcro, but there are sites that show you how to make one that actually ties. My last obi actually fastened in the front with Velcro, and I did it in a way that hid the "seam" fairly well. I'm finishing up a new one right now and this time I'm having it close on my right side, since most viewers' eyes seem to be drawn to the left side because of the lightsaber.

Yes, I have it. It's a good price, it usually sells for at least $10 or $12 or more, in fabric stores. with a little or no modification it will make a very decent Jedi.

That's the one I started with a couple of months ago, but I ended up converting that to my inner tunic and starting over (with a differerent pattern) for my outer tunic. That Simplicity pattern is very good, but the arms were a little tighter than I wanted. Also, the collar band was quite a bit narrower than I like. I know I could have made these alterations myself, but I didn't realize all of this until I had cut everything out and started assembling it. I just figured at that point it would be better to tighten the sleeves a bit more and just make my inner tunic first. It's still a good pattern that only needs a few alterations, like Nova said.

There are also two robe patterns. One with a pointed hood, and I haven't gotten a good look at the other hood. I don't like the pointed hood, but what about the other one?
P.S.: This probably isn't in the right part of the forums.

Not exactly the right part, but no problem, I just cut the fabric with out a pattern, at the moment, I can't think of the exact dimensions, but, look in the robes section, I believe that they are there, I'll check & see if I can find the spot, will post it here. Ok, Under Jedi Robes, look at the thread for robe hoods, pg 2 has a couple of links, the finished dim. are about Wide 50 in. x Deep 25 in from side to side 50 in. & from front to back 25 in. It really is very big, I cut mine double on the fold, and remove the top corner for a curve, instead of a point, sew so that the seams both face into each other, ie, both seams are finished on the outside. pleat or gather the back to fit into neckline. Check the links on that pg, there are some visuals. If you're at DC I'll be there, look me up, & thay're doing a workshop Sun on Jedi Robes.

that is the one I use too....I like it very much... I have embarked on a new tabbard set.....one that is specific to my body's eccentricities....you know the problem with tabbards...they never seem to hang right....I use the Qui-Gon style tabbard that hangs past the sash in the back..... Nova has the right idea with one that is slightly curved...I decided to take it one step further... I have hung my new tunic on a hangar and and draped some scrap paper over the shoulders.....then I took a pencil and began to sketch how I would like the tabbard to drape over the front and back of the tunic....drawing in angles to the sash from the shoulder...then hanging straight down. I did about two attempts...the third is about right on the money....I am using a 4" wide template (allowing 5/8 " on all sides to accomodate seam allowance when I cut from fabric).... when done...I hope it will stay in place...and look good.... I will keep you posted...
